I think Shimano is missing the point- noise is the biggest issue by far. If my bike is loud, it's bad. I don't care if the suspension is actually working 1% better.

Does anyone have any course/build updates on the Cypress Hardline? I know we're still like, a month and a half out, but it'd be cool to see some progress. SUPER interested what kind of features there are going to be. I've heard from a reliable source that Dan and Gee are both saying it's going to be the rowdiest Hardline track so far.

The high and low settings are adjusted with flip chips at the link/seat stay junction. There are also flip chips on the chain stay that allow for a long/short chain stay adjustment as well. I think he's not happy with the pace of product development on the e-bike side. Leadership starts at the top, and perhaps Armin Landgraf wasn't pushing things along hard enough. There were rumours on here that Synyard sent an angry newsletter amongst the exec group at Specialized wondering what they've been up to in light of the Avinox takeover.

It’s weird - sram can release an ecosystem of groups with proprietary cassettes, derailleurs, chains, rings, that have stratospheric prices and persistent issues (speed, shift calibration limitations, QC issues, cassettes that need to be installed multiple times to settle, battery pins corroding etc etc), plus compromises they try and correct release to release. Maybe that’s ok, it’s up to the rider. At the same time, Shimano releases a new di2 ecosystem that uses their existing(and awesome) cassettes, chains, rings, has the industry leading shifter for ergonomics. It was promising- less chainslap in general but on very large impacts chainslap was worse as you'd pull the derailleur into the weaker spring zone. Shifting was actually improved- less tension on the chain going into big cogs. Think the best would be a massive torsion spring to add tension everywhere and then use the cam over spring to mostly subtract tension going into the large cogs. I believe that is the limiter on cage tension. Once you have too much- the derailleur doesn't like shifting into the big easy cogs. I filed paperwork to patent, begged, pleaded, told everyone...

Parallel cam-over spring so it adds chain tension in the small cogs and subtracts it in the large cogs. Edit: pulled the pics- don't want to make trouble.

To be clear, we’ve never paid a hosting fee for the Hardline event to Red Bull- instead we have invested heavily in the venue to facilitate the event each year, and have run the sport, safety, and venue aspects of the event for Red Bull. Our new event releases today. Once it does, it will be obvious that we’ve decided to go in a new direction. We’ve done this because we’ve been brewing this idea for a long time, and it’s time to let us see the light of day.

The old EWS points and event qualifier structure was a great example of a transparent, feasible ladder for talented and motivated riders to climb into the elite field. EWS points were earned at sanctioned local, regional and national level events each with their own points tier and value table. I remember on the website from 2018-2020 there were pages and pages of races you could earn points. An EWS license was about 30USD to get an account and start earning. It seemed that race organizers were welcomed with fair terms to have their races sanctioned...

The problem with the Trans races is that they exist more as a "vacation" showpiece than a real race. Not saying racing doesn't happen, but they are also designed to be an excuse for people to ride like hooligans in cool places for fun. I worry making them a part of some EWS title would not only limit people's ability to participate, but also change the overall vibe of these events in a negative way.
