12/20/2024 1:37pm The Chances of Daprela ending up at pivot whilst Siegenthaler is still involved is 0 - not to go back to shite talking about rumours but she was maybe the strongest hater of daprela when all “that” info came out

12/19/2024 1:37pm Obviously have down votes. Not condemning either of them. Just the idea of what such a 'slogan' can do. I come here to read rumours and chat bikes, not to chat personal life.

12/19/2024 1:36pm The other site was down for a few days. Folks brought their energy here. Sucks when I see a new page added and none of it is actual race rumors.

10/31/2024 7:04am We debated using control pads, and ended up using stock pads as we wanted to know how the brakes performed out of the box, as riders will receive them. That way, we could let you know if you should expect to upgrade pads if you buy brake X. But, I hear your points, and the next time, I plan to have additional pad materials on hand to change if needed. The only brakes I would have changed pad material to improve performance would have been the Shimano MT420. The stock metallic Shimano pads delivered sub-par bite. Next time, we’ll make...

10/30/2024 2:27am Agree on the pad issue. Not switching them all to metalic pads seems very odd. I'm far from the most experienced rider but if someone asked me to do a "break comparison" i'd be putting same sized rotor and pads on everything.

10/30/2024 2:26am Some real strange testing protocols, the main one being testing Hayes with semi-metallic, Shimano with resin and the rest with metallic. You'd think you'd go through all that trouble of using Brake-Ace to draw measurable comparisons you'd at the least run the same ballpark compound (Hayes even includes metallic pads in the box, Shimano metallic pads are easily had). Ideally you'd have just gotten a pair Galfer/Sinter/MTX pads for all brakes where possible. Not sure how the Hayes brakes gets a 7 for bleed procedure. It has literally the same bleed procedure as SRAM (to the point where I use...

10/30/2024 2:25am Lot of time and effort to test and report here. Thank you. Much to take in. Pursuing all the data and sharing is fantastic. I’m by no means in the know regarding current equipment or brake trends, but not testing A4 or Saints gives an impression of biasing the overall test away from Hayes and Shimano. Just my potentially out of touch impression.

10/28/2024 3:34am it's beyond me how the zeb can be the best one here, they always feel like moving a bike with the brakes on to me, regarless of the level ( ultimate, slect+ or select ). Usually is bad bushing/assembly of the fork. Shame there's no Intend in the test it would've been nice to see

10/28/2024 3:34am Should include a dyno of each fork to verify marketing claims and disassembly to check oil, grease and bushing tolerances.

10/28/2024 3:33am The ratings just don't compute. It's hard when the testers obviously have one of the big two on their own bikes and getting past that bias is difficult. The DIY and servicing at home is huge too, try and do work on Fox suspension yourself it's usually a nightmare requiring special tools.

10/28/2024 3:33am Managed to kill 3 zeb CSUs, all creaking, all replaced under warranty. 4th set were sold, as having to keep swapping forks between bikes got old. CSU on my EXTs has been solid, forks were tuned by jack at Geometron. It will make a difference to any fork, IMO. Far too many forks are just slung together as the factory’s, tight bushings, poor alignment, bad brake mounts. It’s a lot of money to be dropping for poor quality product.

9/28/2024 3:02pm Here’s what I have done to improve mavens: -Replaced lever with freedom coast one. Better texture and shape. Colors are cool too but no doubt they are overpriced. -replaced SRAM brake hose with shimano BH90. Less compliance/squishiness. Not sure why SRAM uses worse hoses -replace maxima mineral oil with redline Clearwater shock oil. Less viscous, more responsive. It’s like regular oil for your car vs full synthetic. -bleeding is super tricky with mavens but overall involved tons of suction on the calipers while rapidly depressing the lever. TONS of air comes out. Repeatx20. Bleed only with wheel and brake disc...

9/28/2024 3:00pm There's a very big difference between taking inspiration from the principles of someone else's design and using measurement/inspection equipment and generating geometry directly from the incumbents product. It appears the latter has happened here if you're able to buy Lewis lever blades and fit them to trickstuff lever bodies. You could argue that it was naïve of trick stuff to have no form of protection for their IP, whether that be a patent or even a registered design to protect the aesthetics. But personally I find the degree to which the design has been mirrored highly cynical.
