I think it's cool that Fayolle is racing DH again. I remember he seemed to struggle with being seen as an "undeserving" winner; I hope he's able to leave that behind him and put up some good results this season.

Honestly for an aluminium ebike the weight is just normal, compare it to Commancal Tempo Power (20kg) and Meta Power SX 400 (22.4kg) this is right in the middle (both in terms of weight and travel). Of course you can buy all carbon lightweight ebike for $12k, but its 2x more money, those thing are not comparable really, no one is cross shopping $5k vs $12k bikes.

Most of the riders that ride for a MTB only company ride whatever road bikes they can get their hands on cheap and have for years. It's not a conflict of interest for the company they ride for and they have done to openly. Not a new thing.

I think this is only partially correct. They allow racers to film their race runs, but they own the footage and have first rights to use it. BK's issue was, that he does not get paid for his work as camera man and would have to run a GoPro (sponsor of the WC series), which would not allow him to make other sponsor agreements that earn him money. For example Santa Cruz Syndicate riders are running helmet cameras during their race runs and often publish the footage a couple of days after the race, so they are apparently cool with...

IIRC, BK didn't stop filming race runs to protest, ESO no longer allowed riders to film their race runs. BK did complain about it, rightfully so.

My first thought of the creation of the continental series aspect of all the changes is the opportunity it brings to the rest of the (err, "non-white") world and what that means for the health of the race scene and mountain biking in a general sense.
