May I add that, in addition to having a killer bike, the Commencal Vallnord - Riding Addiction team also just happened to be on it in terms of organization and strategy this year. It was pretty clear as early as the preseason that they already had a plan in mind and it was executed perfectly in 2018. Getting Daprela and Pierron into the team was a fantastic first step. They also chose the right sponsors (SRAM and Spank, in particular) and training regimens for all their riders. Unlike other teams which were scrambling to get a 29" DH frankenbike ready...

There were other guys further down the standing who seemed to be riding much better this year on that bike. I think a number of other teams riders commented over the year how that bike just seemed to work.

It looks like Charlie Harrison, Kade and Reece Wilson are all hanging out at the moment, and the bike in the background of the photo above has a Boxxer and what (to me) looks like a Bontrager G5 front tyre. That suggests to me that the three of them are going to be on Trek. Gwin hasn’t really been posting much that would suggest that he’s hanging with them, or that he’s going to give up his Fox, TRP, Onza etc etc sponsorships to join Trek factory on full SRAM/RS. Also Neko is still out in NC at his bike...

This highly depends on the company i believe. If it´s Intense or Transition, basically a brand with a "core" image that´s been established and had success before (Moir, Tahnee), people won´t really care if he loses because it´s not cool to hate on them and the bikes aren´t really open to any particular criticism. If it´s a big player with an established bike and/or a new player with a questionable image or bike, it´s a huge gamble that might pay out big or may backfire horribly. Great discussion so far. Thanks to all for contributing. J Brines, when I read the rules on the EWS site that you linked, they are clear to me, although I do admit I had to read them a few times. You dodge the test or don’t comply with the testing procedures, you loose. You fail the test they (they being a governing body that EWS has invited in, in this case) administer, you are banned from further competition. If you fail, you can then appeal the ban and EWS will make the call on how they are gonna handle it...

Rumor in Slovenia is, that Vid Persak is finally getting some-kind off-factory support... waiting to get this officialy and what bike brand he will be on in this season... Im stoked for him no matter what will he get out off this! And hopeing, that Monika will get some factory support too for this season - she deserve it!
