Adidas version of the Cross Trail has those, but they do stretch out and the laces tend to start falling out, FWIW.

Yes it is, thanks for nerding out with me! Do you find fore-aft length to matter much? I'm on rather long Giant Pinners and feel more supported, comfortable and confident than the Vaults I was using before. I think it's down to the length, but that's obviously not the the only difference between the two.

That's why we came up with the "PTA (Pin-To-Axle") measurement. The effective size of a pedal under the foot is really determined by pin placement, as your foot will not actually come in contact with with outer edge of a pedal unless the pins are really short. So to determine how big a pedal "feels", the outermost pins and their position relative to the crank arm come into play (PTA). In this case, the F22 measures in with a PTA of 112mm, which is fairly close to many other leading pedals. For example: DMR Vault - 114, Deity TMAC -...

These look to be great pedals and a real improvement over what I read about the F20. I would still maybe not call them large, though, with a useable platform of 105x102mm. That seems to me fairly average, maybe even smallish, among good pedals released in the last couple years. Of course it's highly subjective. Many will prefer the hookability of this size, and how it concentrates your weight. Further, I don't mean to downplay the potential of intelligent pin placement increasing perceived size. But I like really big pedals! Anyway thanks for all the details, this article is a...

It's cool to see Bentonville pumping money into the sport and building lots of trails. But training for mtb without convenient access to long sustained climbs or descents seems a rather questionable decision.

Headset cable routing “to avoid placing holes in the frame in an area that endures high stress,” literally right underneath a picture of a hole drilled into the chainstay dropout right next to a weld… Was excited for something small and playful from Commencal, unfortunately have to mark it off the list now. Plenty of comparable options that use external routing or well-sorted internal routing through the downtube.

Absolutely right, the colors are convenient until you cut the mangled sleeves off in order to store the keys. (This might not be necessary if you treat them with more respect than I have) The hex plus interface is a great upgrade over basic keys and that's the selling point for me. I have not used other high-end keys so can't speak to the relative value.

Pricing often errs higher outside of a brand's home market because when they set MSRPs each year, they don't know what currency exchange rates are going to do. There has to be some wiggle room for the foreign currency to lose relative value and not take every bit of profit along with it.

My favorite time of year, the best survey, the only survey of this extent and the trend analysis vital does is impeccable. I know this is a mountain of work for vital AND the readers-thanks to all, as a bike industry product and marketing person-this survey is a useful tool.
