Hey everyone, I figured it was time to share a project that’s been quietly evolving over the last 10 months. I’m Laurent – a mechanical engineer and lifelong bike nerd. Together with my friend and coworker Axel, we’ve been designing and building our own custom enduro frame from scratch. This started as a passion project. We wanted to build the kind of bike we couldn’t quite find on the market. we’re just two guys who love riding bikes and wanted to make something that is durable, quiet, easy to live with, and above all, fun to ride. Somewhere along the...

Your URL hackery is weak, son. I have no single idea what the shock could be. Fast? Chickadee? A non-shit x-fusion?

To give some credit where credit's due, since air shocks have gotten much better, it's been a while since any short link bikes had a significant regressive hump at the end of their travel; the most recent one I can think of is the Ibis Ripmo. In fact, many short link bikes get more progressive at the end for increased bottom-out resistance. At the end of the day, my two cents about HBO is that it shouldn't be a dealbreaker. It's highly dependent on your personal preferences, bike kinematics, and bike setup. I don't think it'll ever be (or should...

Saw this earlier today, didnt think much of it - Thought it was just a Fox transfer kashima dropper where colors might have been altered or some filter. But after looking at some comments, and digging around a bit more it does indeed seem like its something new from Intend BC, matching the rest of the components on her bike. So possibly getting a new Intend dropper in the future. Another pic of her bike, and Cornelius Cduro bike, both running the dropper, as well as prototype trail brake from intend. Hopefully something they'll release soon. Will probably be as...

All the sponsorship posts from AON/Reece & Sleeper.co have been so dialed. Sure, they're trying to hype up their sponsors and 'sell' people on why they are choosing to run X product. But the short insta vids have been insightful without feeling forced. Shit, for a second I thought I might need some Rev Grips 😂 (disclaimer: I haven't ridden them, and probably should to form a worthwhile opinion. I'm sure they provide some advantages).

My guess is Brembo and the American bike company being Specialized. Brembo own Ohlins, who sponsor the Specialized DH team.

The following example is comparing three different theoretical bikes that have the same travel and progression, but different shock strokes. I made up a function to depict the air spring. It's not perfect, but it's not far off either. More ramp that most air shocks. This is only a portion of the picture. I wouldn't say there's any benefit to designing a bike around a short shock beyond fixing clearance issues if there are any, though. The reality is there are loads of air shocks that are plenty linear out there. Leverage curves (made them linear functions for the sake...

At 70% travel there is a singularity which allows your spring force to simultaneously be three different values. Some hypothesize that if you can push past 70% travel you will bridge spacetime and land in a parallel universe.

Pretty cool concept. I remember first noticing this on Vali Höll's YT. She rode without the pulleys during practice and then they were added for the final. Rulezman also makes them for his Banshee bikes. He claims it completely removes pedal kickback.

I asked ChatGPT what Sesame Seed was talking about and to be okay with being brutally honest and distasteful if it wants. Enjoy: This comment seems to be a convoluted attempt at drawing parallels between professional bike racing and motorsports, particularly Formula 1, but it’s a jumbled mess of loose associations and misplaced terminology. Let’s break it down brutally: 1. Chain Drive Skepticism : The commenter kicks off with skepticism about recent changes to bike racing due to “chain drive,” but gives no real details or context for what exactly they are skeptical about. It feels like they are grasping...
