I can empathize! It’s difficult to explain the full physics without photos, but I was trying to remove a thread on cog from Halo single speed driver without the dedicated tool. I ultimately bent and wedged a cone wrench between the cog and a lip on the driver body. I then proceeded to put the whole she-bang (pun intended) in...

I agree with you also. I don’t think it would be. WBD to do this in the short term, I don’t think they have the vision, but a person could hope! Maybe down the road it’ll get peeled off and placed somewhere for this to happen. To the second point, they must have amazing stats and data internally. I’d hope...
Unless you have a bike with a very specific leverage curve designed around a specific sag point (old Santa Cruz?) sag seems almost completely irrelevant. Set up your suspension to your preferences for how it behaves dynamically on the trail not a single static value.

WSL broadcasts all their events live on YouTube. Between the Championship Tour and Challenger Tour they run 20+ stops across the globe, some in much harder places to get to (Fiji) than any World Cup. They have awesome production value too. The podium of each Championship Tour stop get $100,000 - $63,000 - $40,000 respectively for both Men’s and Women’s...

I’m up to be proven wrong, but I really don’t think anyone who doesn’t have at least minimal connection to bicycles is stumbling upon World Cup DH randomly and get hooked. If WB really believes that, I think it’s a fools errand. The F1 analogy gets thrown around a lot but I believe it’s completely different. Most adults who have...

The problem is their ‘path’ to increased exposure seems pretty poorly planned and executed. If you really wanted more eyes on it, you would put it somewhere free (or cheap) and easy for longtime fans and then you could also put it in the sports package for the general public who have MAX to stumble upon. Right now you have...

Not quite the same as above, but I had an Intense SS frame with the bolt on dropouts that used two extra-long chainring bolts to hold them on. Those dropouts would creak worse than anything you can imagine, sounded like the whole rear end were going to implode every hard pedal stroke. I tried everything and finally found if I...

I mean they already have night events for World Cup mogul skiing and I believe slalom. The UCI also has their snow biking world champs. It not a big leap to your conclusion. Haha

Sorry for a minor derail, but you mentioned my favorite ski of all time (Head Monster 103 Team). This might actually be a perfect (inverse) analog for USD forks. That ski wasn’t actually that stiff longitudinally, but the two layers of metal made it quite torsionally stiff. It held an edge through chop because you could bend the ski but...

Do you have a link to an article or podcast on this? I’d be super interested to learn more. Are you sure it wasn’t Core-upt, another ski brand that sponsored Candide (and a number of other big names) and then imploded? I follow snow sports closely and haven’t heard anything about a shake-up that big at Faction. They also still...

Do you wake up every day wondering "who can I be a d1ck to on the Vital Forums today"? Assuming good intent and extending a modicum of kindness takes almost no effort; give it a try!

A couple questions for anyone who might’ve spent time on this fork. 1) Has anybody ridden a Manitou Dorado Comp with the XX-stiff spring installed? Can you comment on if you felt that fork was actually ‘stiff’ with this configuration? I feel like most coil forks struggle to be set up as stiff a comparable air fork for those of...

Gwin is currently still ranked in the top 50 which I believe gets him automatic status, but I think he easily meets the wildcard criteria of "personal status" and accounting for injuries in previous seasons too. The guy is a 5 time overall winner and in the top 3 race wins of all time, so I'm OK with them making an exception for that! WBD gets a lot of hate for their decisions but I feel like this is one of the better ones....
