Buckets Up Added a comment about press release Race Face Introduces All-New Turbine SL Stem
3/18/2025 8:12pm I’m with you 100%, but I guess that’s where the extra ‘trail’ designation comes in? That being said, stem and bars are the one place I’d always sacrifice weight for strength and confidence.

3/16/2025 6:20pm Different seat height every time I extend the dropper, and having to micro-tune seat height with the lever every time? Hard pass, for me and especially for beginner riders.

3/16/2025 5:36am I'll bash them for you. All influencers are awful. Seth's bike hacks was the start of it and ruined everything. Everytime I see any influencer content recommended to me I die a little more inside. Bashing aside, I think the rise of influencers as marketing in mountain biking and cycling in general is a sign of the sport losing its identity. Whether that's good or bad is up to you, but most influencer content I see markets more to out groups and casual people over core riders, and with the covid casual rider kind of phasing out, I wonder if...

3/16/2025 5:26am I’m just under 5’11 and have massive amounts of seatpost showing on my s3 Enduro. But I agree, they should come with the shorter posts rather than the absolute max. We can all ride with a saddle that doesn’t quite drop as much as “you’d” like, but you sure as hell can’t ride a bike with a seatpost is too long. Showing my age but I was riding before droppers - they never stopped us having fun. I can’t think of a single bike on the market that doesn’t have at least a 100mm drop. If you can’t ride with...

3/15/2025 8:01pm While we're discussing dropper seatpost consumer behaviour rumours, Merida has it figured out. As anybody who's been paying attention to Merida knows, its current FS models have a straight seat tube so that every single frame size comes with the same adjustable post that can be set to drop anywhere between 30 mm and 230 mm. I don't think it's available aftermarket yet, though.

3/15/2025 8:00pm I am 6’. I ride a large Ripmo AF. I have a 175mm dropper and I have to slam my post to pedal when it’s extended. I have short legs. I would probably never be able to ride a 200mm dropper on a full suspension due to packaging constraints. If you could even get a frame designed to have enough...

3/7/2025 5:49pm I think "Brand only" means "Brand only." AKA they don't have any IP. They don't own frame designs, suspension designs, testing data, CAD drawing, FEA analysis, old image files... anything. I think it means they own the label and have to start from scratch on the product front. I remember reading about the IP vs. brand separation when Mike Ashley bought Nukeproof. That's part of the reason he bought it for pennies on the dollar compared to the previous value of the whole business prior to liquidation. My assumption is that it will be a label slapped on catalog frames...

3/6/2025 5:36pm Liberated is done as far as I know. Volcom staff was axed and it sounded like all licensing agreements with Authentic Group was done. Or in other words, Quik, Billabong, Volcom will get shuttled off to another operating partner. All branding is owned by Authentic and they just license to others who make the product. In this latest iteration that...

2/26/2025 8:54am From the story on MBR “BCF has bought all brand intellectual property for Nukeproof as well as all existing owned assets,” “Giving BCF the right to manufacture bikes from the existing range and innovate/ launch new Nukeproof models.” I wouldn't be surprised if the deal gives Fraser Group the distribution rights for the UK, maybe that's where talk of the future etc comes from.

2/26/2025 8:28am The below is taken from the press release. Too many references to a continuing partnership and Frasers still playing some sort of role. If it was really a complete sale and separation, it would seem you would play that up and not use phrasing like that bolded. Again, pure speculation, but I'm not holding my breath: "This is an exciting...

2/26/2025 5:28am Reading between the lines, it sounds more like the current owners are simply licensing Nukeproof to BCF. This is the model that Jamie Salter and Authentic Brands Group uses with all its trademarks. It rarely if ever works out well for the brand. They talked about it a bit in the Bombhole podcast linked some pages back with Colleen Quigley...
Buckets Up Added a comment about press release Renthal Introduces Higher Rise Fatbar 35 Handlebars
2/14/2025 5:52am I’d like to feel the flex on these. I had a pair of Fatbars on a dirt jumper back in the day and they were disheartening to ride with how much flex you could feel pumping transition at the jumps and in the skatepark.

2/11/2025 7:30am Its also just an FSR layout with a high pivot (and from the looks of it, terrible chain overlap on the chainring). Besides the travel swap-ability there are quite a few other bikes out there that offer the same thing, possibly even better depending on what you want. I'd personally rather be selective and buy two bikes that were purpose...
