The Path in Orange County had a fairly strange scenario, that seemed like a drawn out location swap more than anything. Basically they made a new location, that would function as the 'normal' bike shop... And the old location became an 'outlet' store to sell clearance items and it just had a shit ton of stuff for a while. They recently blew most of that out, whatever is left, and are now closing the old 'outlet' store, saying there is not enough inventory left over to justify the location. Again, it really just sounds like a prolonged location swap where...

Here’s my $0.02: Robot raises a solid point different doesn’t always mean better. There’s been a lot of hype around why USD is supposed to be superior, but honestly, I haven’t seen anything measurable (quantitative) that makes me a believer, especially in single crown setups. Instead of starting with why USD might be better, I think it’s more useful to lay out some core problems with current suspension forks and then explore if USD might help solve them. Compliance: Across every sport I touch...skiing, moto, MTB there was a phase where “stiffer = better.” Everyone wanted to be the guy...

For what its worth, I wasn't blown away with the two I've had from a sensitivity perspective. I didn't take the fork apart and "check" alignment, but even buddies who rode it agreed it was very "meh". I don't know what is going on, but I am starting to think there is more variance fork to fork than maybe we want to acknowledge. One thing I am starting to question is if the hub I have (DT Swiss) is part of the problem (or rather, Fox didn't leave enough "float"). The hub measures a hair wider than boost and I've...

Posted a comment on the other site, but this statement is pretty shitty " If you placed an order before July 15th, please note that—due to legal regulations—it may be part of the restructuring process and will be reviewed individually." No, YT, you made the choice to prioritize short-term cash flow by screwing over customers. There are well-established legal options for protecting customer payments from becoming part of an insolvency estate. You could have used an escrow or trust account from the outset, structured payments to transfer only upon delivery, or at the very least paused sales and issued a...

As long as we are comparing bikes to cars, I feel like its worth bringing up "sensible" builds and the fact that the industry responds somewhat by offering them. Maybe I am pipe dreaming but if the US had fewer walls around vehicle imports/laws and the companies stopped their cartel behavior we could see the $10,000 "Ripmo AF" Toyota Truck...

in my defense, as a YT owner, i never looked at YT branding and thought they were cool. honestly its quite blatantly try hard tool-ery. literally only bought it because the value checked out. people on reddit are talking about how 'people shouldnt buy YT in the US right now' because of this situation, which is valid, but im reminding them at these ridiculous unsustainable prices. its basically like buying a used bike. (quite literally) aside from being able to talk some poor shmuck down, these prices are nearly the price of used bikes of the same build kit. and...

No. What he does with his money is completely unrelated to the situation in the company he founded. This is of course assuming it was his and only his money and was earned without weakening the company in any way. If either of those happened it changes the situation. What we can agree is that egregious spending of the ceo in private does not look good when many actions of the company seem similar and the company is now in administration because of financial problems. So we can't confirm it didn't affect anything neither that it did, but I will...

I'm of the opinion that you can't ride a plus tire aggressively and have it perform well, regardless of inserts. There's a balance between weight, the stability of the casing, the damping of the casing, and the pressure/contact patch. Plus tires are feeble, vague balloons with no stability and regardless of inserts they roll over far too much in corners and are terrifying on off-camber. Add pressure and they're bouncy/underdamped, unpredictable, and the grip goes to shit. If you make them burly enough to be stable then they're a boat anchor. Some inserts stop a tire completely folding over or...

It’s wild too because they already have a formula that works but they’re too dumb to realize it. EWS in its heyday had lots of attention and was selling bikes like crazy. The trick to making it relevant again? Don’t jam it into an already packed race weekend. I said it before I’ll say it again there is too much content to watch on a triple header weekend. Put it on the off weekends. Look how well the first EDR was received this year. It was the stand alone race on the weekend and everyone was stoked. They need a...

There wasn't room to include "..., planned obsolescence, and anti-consumer duopolistic practices that treat bike companies less like frame designers and more like component integrators."
