2/27/2026 2:47pm I don’t think the SJ15 is a dud but it’s not a very sexy bike. Compare it to a Druid or something with a little more ‘tude and you’ll see where detractors might be coming from. If you’ve work in a shop you’ll get where this Levo R came from: there are tons of customers who want to ride a sick ebike even if they don’t have the skills. It’s like people who drive jeeps…

2/26/2026 4:18pm Stunning new UK-made 120mm bike by Hope, called the HB 912. More details over on the red website (- photo also shamelessly stolen from there😁)

2/26/2026 3:01pm Jackson's brakes? (I'm not actually convinced the rest of the groupset needs an update, but I think there is fairly collective agreement that the updated Shimano brakes are not competitive with the best on the market right now)

2/23/2026 3:56pm Jasper's riding is as close to a textbook definition as one can get.

2/23/2026 3:56pm this was 6 years ago, this "new definition of flickable" may not apply, but i think it still does : )

2/18/2026 1:53pm Thanks! As to "async" racing, 100% that is a big part of it. I actually considered a very similar approach as V41 but I'm super allergic to building anything that leans into Strava's infrastructure based on their track record. They've shown very little good faith when it comes to playing nice with apps that leverage their API. Things are moving along here. Hoping I have something out there in ~4 weeks Best Jeff

2/18/2026 10:38am the jibb is too heavy, therefore if you like the Jibb, you are gravity oriented.. which is fine. I am as well, and own a Madonna... but I did get a killer deal on a Cannondale Habit, 140mm pike, shock with stroke for 130mm.. DTSwiss XMC trail wheelset.. with light trail tires or high volume XC tires, it's a rocket, and I think its more comparable to the smuggler... there is nothing adjustable in the frame ( no flip-chip, no storage), just a solid thought out trail bike with a lot of versatility.. I think the tallboy is benchmark of...

2/17/2026 4:37pm "The price is a bit steep" That is the rub for me. Can't find any reasonably priced new frames anywhere. The price does not make sense compared to full builds. Frame up builders are getting gouged unless the bulk discounts they get are much much greater than I thought. I wish Santa Cruz offered C framesets. Transition is the one...

2/17/2026 11:43am I am looking to upgrade my trail bike frame. I have a stumpjumper evo and am looking for something lower travel that still makes sense to keep my 36 (stroked down) and dh brakes. I am not looking to go full XC. My frontrunners are the Santa Cruz Tallboy and the Trek Top Fuel. My issue with both is that...

2/10/2026 2:06pm Deviate says they're coming back the 13th or something. Apparel can generally be really tough in bike stores. There's a lot of bike stores that do it really bad. I'd put most bike shops into this category. However, to do it right, there's a big capital, time, and space commitment that most aren't prepared or equipped to deal with. Doing it right means keeping the area tidy and organized, displayed well, tons of sizes and colours in stock, knowing how to sell it personally, and vitally, being willing to sell it below cost to an outlet store whenever things sit...

2/10/2026 10:40am Did I read correctly somewhere on the Vital forums someone mentioned that Specialized was winding down their clothing division? I think it was in the context of Loic and Finn riding Alpinestars clothing this season. Seems like the margins on the clothing are high and this would be a relatively easy place to make some money for them. On another note, I hope Deviate comes back! That would be cool. Love Fairbrother's crazy missions and Mael Feron riding to the top of the Mega then taking 5th was just as radical.

2/9/2026 3:15pm Stopping people competing because they haven't done the features on course yet is not a rule either, but it is enforced at Hardline. However having to complete two full practice runs is a requirement in the rule book, but not necessarily enforced at Hardline, to facilitate the step by step practice process. So across the board at Hardline there are discrepancies related to rules and rulings. It's a weird and unique event that means UCI commissaires just make sure the race is kinda safe and riders are fairly unanimous in decisions it seems. Honestly seems like people on the internet...

2/9/2026 3:12pm My only complaint is that they didn't have the quali stream locked and loaded after the weather came in before the race to at least have a broadcast that night.

2/9/2026 3:06pm It’s actually wild that they didn’t start the stream and tell us this and then show us qualifying. No problem with the decision but a pretty big letdown the way it’s been handled.
