4/10/2026 3:14pm One argument that’s been lost on me is the claim that theirs still a speed limit on the bike , so it’s ok. There’s even a comparison above to the Tesla plaid cheetah mode. My perspective is that there’s also a big difference. Yes, you can take an insanely powerful Tesla out on the roads, but that’s inherently a structured environment. There’s signs , lanes, reflectors for the edge of the road, clear sight lines, etc. So if you’re gonna go do 120 in a Tesla you have at least some chance of predicating or seeing what all the other...

4/10/2026 11:01am I'm equal parts bummed and intrigued by the new/revamped eagle lineup. On one hand, SX/NX can die in a fire, and their death is just as exciting to me as new product is in certain ways. On the other, X01 eagle was probably the best all around drivetrain as a package over any other I've ever used. Each component of that drivetrain was stellar; cassette, chain, derailleur and shifter. That being said, while I still have a bike in the garage with that setup... I wouldn't be selecting it as a new build. I guess in that case, it makes...

4/9/2026 4:05pm The Vancouver hardline is going to be bonkers. You can take a city bus to Cypress. Compare this to tassie or even the wales site where you had to either make a big flight or drive a long way. They could literally have every inch of the course covered with people if they want. What a treat for us west coasters. Never could pull the trigger on flying to watch a WC on the east coast, now we have WC Whistler and a hardline in the same year.

4/9/2026 11:00am Do any Welsh or Tassie people have a ballpark on prices to spectate? Do I need to reserve early? Trying to drag my ass out there

4/7/2026 3:14pm Im glad you acknowledged there may be a sampling bias that people running inserts are more likely to be a category of rider that is harder on wheels. Anecdotally I’ve blown up two wheels while running inserts and one wheel without, but that’s not an apples to apples comparison given different rim and tire combinations each time.

4/6/2026 2:55pm As long as they are going into it anticipating relatively low volume and to sell to their fans/employees who mtb rather than try to market against Fox/tld/pearl/etc they’ll do just fine. I’m sure they are well aware your average mtber isn’t going to pay those prices to wear their name. But I’m sure they are also aware they have plenty of people who are willing to pay those prices whether they are decking themselves out for their first ride or are going to wear it twice a week for a few years riding.

4/6/2026 2:40pm I am another one who swears by inserts on my Spire with DD casing. I would say I slightly prefer the ride quality without, but the insurance policy is well worth it. I have broken no WAO Unions running cushcore in four years I have had the set, and broke one on the one day I took it out. My...

4/3/2026 11:43am some bullshit. Cane Crik does not like pushing the envelope. I was hoping for 17x156.5 but whatever I guess. Ill just have to accept the flex.

4/2/2026 3:35pm Mandatory rear inserts for all of my bikes and my rate of flatting has gone way down as a result. I mostly just do it to protect the tire and also rim to some extent.Running CC trail inserts in the rear of the enduro bike with front also on gnarly gravity days. SS hardtail gets XC insert in the rear and that has been working well with 2.3"ish trail casings and ~28psi. I can't imagine how many plugs I'd be using on the HT rears as the insert is covered in rim stab scars. To Schwalbai's point, I could see...

4/2/2026 3:32pm I was an insert denier until this winter... I've destroyed a freshly built-up FR541 (which I put on a rear wheel to replace an EX511 that lasted maybe a year and never survived Northstar season) by hucking into a root on upper Jugs. That somehow didnt impact the sidewalls at all, but made a big enough well on the bead shelves so the system wouldnt hold air. It did not help to put tape pieces or rubber repair thingies to smooth it out too. Given the NA prices for DT Swiss, I figured I can eat the cushcore price. It...

4/2/2026 11:16am Arc'teryx has entered the mtb space, because you know, there just aren't enough premium brands trying to sell $350 riding pants and $500 jackets. lol (For real, though, even though all of my Arc stuff is the best fitting stuff I have, 0/10 would not pay those prices for it. The only riding pants I'm willing to spend full price on is NF. 10/10 worth it)

3/23/2026 4:28pm Just got this from Knolly: A Message from Noel Buckley I'm going to keep this simple because you deserve that. The last few years have been the hardest this industry has ever seen, and Knolly has not been immune. But we have been fighting through it: restructuring costs, tightening operations, and doing the difficult work of right-sizing the business to match a new reality. We were making progress. That progress was cut short. Our bank, RBC, has made the decision to call in our account. This comes at a time when RBC is posting record annual profits, $20.4 billion last...
