Hello, I am stumbling on this thread. If I am trying to have a mullet wheel that feels much like the stock setup, but not go mullet full time (no one is allowed to suggest a Patrol!) would it be a move to get a 1 degree steeper set and run the bike mullet in high and standard in low...

Hey Jeff, finally read your DJI/Amflow/Avinox post. Great read, and some great research in there. I think what blows me away the most is the 3-5 year outlook. Yes, of course 2026 looks very different for Trek, Specialized, and Giant because of the specs, the watts, the price, and the mega bike launch week that just happened. But even crazier than that is seeing DJI's HQ, reading their current revenue, and knowing that Xi Jinping and his friends are actively supporting capex for Chinese brands like DJI to the tune of billions and trillions. 3-5 years from now, I no...

That the $5k Amflow might just nuke the e-bike market, I imagine I will be seeing those bikes everywhere by the end of this year. Crazy what state sponsored capitalism can produce. Private industry is only good if you're a dork trying to become a billionaire, if you want to do real numbers you need that central bank money.

Funny that’s only release on PB I read. They certainly are standing out in the noise.

Quick update for clarification. It does appear that DJI has officially spun off Avinox and Amflow as wholly owned subsidiaries. They are working hard to distance both brands from DJI while still owning them, which in my opinion is primarily for tariff reasons. I don't read Mandarin so I had to use AI to help with the research, but here's what the Chinese corporate registry data shows: DJI senior management member Song Jianyu is the legal representative of the Amflow entity, which is held by a Hong Kong shell company called Worang Technology. If you guys want, I'll spend the...

I just really hope they’re not sacrificing the whole industry for a few good quarters because that’s kinda what it feels like with them flirting with higher and higher power numbers.

I spent a good chunk of last night trying to evaluate DJI's move through the lens of business and corporate strategy. While it might sound far-fetched, I genuinely believe DJI could be making a move that fundamentally changes the landscape of the e-mtb industry. A few thoughts: Amflow: I have it on good authority that Fox's number one customer is Amflow. If true, that should signal to the industry that Amflow is not a demo product. It's a company going after the likes of Specialized, Trek, Giant and other major incumbents. To add, there is nothing holding them back from...

I think we nerds sometimes get lost in our bubble. For 99.9% of the riding public, press releases and bike launches simply don't matter and doesn't drive buying behavior. Plus, historically, there have always been a gagillion press releases around new product this time of year (Sea Otter). Way back in the day Interbike drove the same kind of thing. TL;DR, it doesn't really matter.

Crap, I changed my mind. I’m thinking now about the majority of their business being b2b and thinking about what comes specced on bikes, and what new bike customers are looking for in a bike. That GX/XO1 mashup customer just doesn’t exist in bike shops, it’s all forum nerds. People tended to fall into “let me buy the cheapest bike” or “let me get the nicest bike.” The riders in the middle don’t really seem to sweat drivetrain, they were moreso just looking for better suspension/brakes I guess? Kind of just like the upgrade bike without having all of their...

One argument that’s been lost on me is the claim that theirs still a speed limit on the bike , so it’s ok. There’s even a comparison above to the Tesla plaid cheetah mode. My perspective is that there’s also a big difference. Yes, you can take an insanely powerful Tesla out on the roads, but that’s inherently a structured environment. There’s signs , lanes, reflectors for the edge of the road, clear sight lines, etc. So if you’re gonna go do 120 in a Tesla you have at least some chance of predicating or seeing what all the other...

I'm equal parts bummed and intrigued by the new/revamped eagle lineup. On one hand, SX/NX can die in a fire, and their death is just as exciting to me as new product is in certain ways. On the other, X01 eagle was probably the best all around drivetrain as a package over any other I've ever used. Each component of that drivetrain was stellar; cassette, chain, derailleur and shifter. That being said, while I still have a bike in the garage with that setup... I wouldn't be selecting it as a new build. I guess in that case, it makes...
