6/9/2025 3:44pm I don't know with yeti in particular... but from a friend with industry knowledge that I spend a bunch of time with. He theorizes that many of the DH bikes that are carbon, yet not being brought to market, are being made on CNC'd aluminum prototype moulds. These are fine for limited production where you're doing hand QA/QC for each product and can monitor the mould for degradation and for overall accuracy. This is quite difficult to do with any sort of scaling and hence, why steel moulds are used for production. From what I understand, there are a few...

6/9/2025 3:15pm 1199 looks to be a pretty awesome new school style tech track. Got some hectic shutes and tech loan sections, and some high speed massive features. I think a lot of the reason we don't see tracks with steep hairpins the whole way is because it's terrible for camera locations. It's not like the tracks their riding aren't technical, but I do agree that some flat corners would be nice, but most places repurpose part of the bike park tracks so they come with berms built already.

6/9/2025 3:04pm Slightly off topic question for the lovely people of this forum: If Yeti took the time to make carbon moulds for their dh bike, why not take it to market? Could they not break even or at least offset development cost selling it? I am sure they could get at least a few Boulder e bike dads to buy one...

6/9/2025 10:13am I love fast courses but the motorway is plain boring. I like when it is high speed tech. The Leogang woods section was good this year but when its wetter its just slightly too steep to be as fast as I would like.

6/6/2025 3:06pm Been on the road a bit this past week but wanted to drop a few thoughts. I also saw I was tagged in a post linking to a solid BR article, but it got deleted so I'm reposting it here because it’s highly relevant to this thread and sheds light on Canyon’s financial health. Canyon’s valuation has been written down. GBL, who owns ~50% of Canyon (I don’t know much about them), dropped the value of their stake from €460M to €261M even though sales were flat YoY. Worth noting: since GBL is based in Europe, they report under IFRS...

6/3/2025 4:14pm It would be real cool if it came stock on some builds, but knowing the bike industry, they would put it on bikes that don't need it just for the hype beasts out there. Integrated Dub cranks would be a plus too.

6/2/2025 4:24pm Good question. Slight tangent, but I’ve been toying with the idea of launching a monthly podcast where I unpack stuff like this. I didn’t think people would care, but when you break it down in a way that maps to our world, it actually seems to land. And honestly, it’s way easier for me to riff on this in audio form than hammer it out on a keyboard. Anyway, I read through the last few pages of comments, good to see Revel back from the dead, by the way. I’ll probably share more thoughts on that later (maybe). For now...

6/2/2025 2:43pm i mentioned in the loudenvielle thread, but no lawlor raw or pit bits vids fromt Loudenvielle, Lenzerheide, Andorra or Les Gets. we have 6 US national rounds this year that we decided to put budget into instead. our heart is with domestic racing and helping it grow. with 11 WC rounds (including world champs), we had to make budget choices and this year we had to pay 3k euro to WBD so lawlor could film (this was after our budget/race decisions were made, however). they've always let us in, but that finally ended this year. i don't blame them, it's...

6/1/2025 11:28pm I don't mean protection beyond for seeding. It would be a better product if all the hitters who qualified fair and square were at the back. I will say, however, that that Nathan kid's run today hurts my point.

6/1/2025 9:07pm So I kind of like the new format when it comes to Q1 and Q2, but I wish they kept the vestiges of protection, and if top riders qualify in Q2, they still race at the back on raceday. It really sucked to see Jackson, Amaury, and Finn have 30 only seconds of their run broadcast in Poland because they...

5/29/2025 9:35am Except I am not assuming that, I am in fact acknowledging the opposite, that there are other reasons to delete posts. I am saying that they should get some appreciation from brands for doing so given that people are posting widely available images that the companies did a mediocre job keeping under wraps in a forum titled tech rumors. I...

5/28/2025 4:22pm Because I asked a good faith question about if it was made financially worth their while to delete users' posts on their platform (definitely more of a grey area than Vital posting) for these very valid reasons and was given a condescending answer that it never happens. As I said in my original post, I don't blame them at all...

5/28/2025 3:33pm Posts all over FB/reddit/pinkbike. with even more photos of the brakes/drivetrains/hubs. I will never believe in this whole removing posts because a brand cant keep their own sh1t a secret - especially in this case when Shimano Rep's have been telling everyone.

5/16/2025 2:45pm Cold cannot be the problem here. Do timing belts in cars break when its cold? I run a pinion/belt equipped fat bike all winter when its 0F and I have never broken a belt... The times I have broke a belt however, is after a rock strike. While all of the pinions have bashguards to protect the box, several of the bikes dont have anyway of protecting the belt specifically. If a rock kicks up and hits the belt, there's a good chance its damaged and can break. I have thousands and thousands of miles on gearboxes/belts and design bikes...
