It's well-documented and understood that straight, wide residential streets are much more dangerous than narrower, curvier (within limits) streets because they encourage high-speed driving. Sadly, Americans have been sold the vision of 4- or 6-lane residential streets with no sidewalks and surrounded by groundwater-irrigated golf-courses in the middle of the desert as the epitome of the American dream/success. Couple that with the belief that cars should have primacy on those streets and bikes are toys and you end up w/ the often-lethal, always-opposed "bike infrastructure" here. (And when there inevitably is a crash and some poor biker gets smeared across...

With the global bicycle market coalescing around “mobility solutions” as the future profit center the American response that you are “afraid to ride to work” is just about all the economic insight needed to understand why this thread will soon be 150 pages long. The number of Americans I know who have held pro dh licenses but are hesitant riding a bicycle from their own homes to run an errand is staggeringly high. I mean, I get it, but I don’t have to like it. Before People For Bikes (the defacto US industry trade lobbying group) became embroiled nonstop in...

+1 appreciating Dario here. He may not be right all the time, but he’s not taking it TOO seriously either. He is not polished and seems more relatable than your average presenter. Plus he IS younger than many, which gives him an opportunity (that he apparently uses) to think less of money/career and more of staying true to the current state of himself. Again, even if he is wrong from others POV.

Spoken like a boomer core lord. That’s what the viral forums seem to have become though. Dario is actually a breath of fresh air in mountain bike media, same as Jason. His perspective is a welcome change from the usual safe, generic industry takes the rest of the media recycles time and time again.

8,000+ km's on a Druid V1 and 2,000 km's on a Dreadnought V1, PNW based riding. Druid was the second XT build to land in Canada. It has had the main pivot and linkage bearings replaced twice, the bearings in rear triangle and main frame have been replaced once. Have gone through an OEM and NSB aluminum idler (on a SS one now). Also had to replace the bolt that connects the shock yolk/rate link together as it had worn enough to have play. The "crunch" zone between the seat tube/rear triangle causing gouging sucked until they offered a hunk...

Considering that we've got the Marz Shiver, the Manitou Dorado, and the Rockshox RS-1, the statement is completely stupid whatever way you want to swing it.

Here's a rough idea. I'm sure there are some details missing, and despite my best efforts, this rabbit hole has some twists. So you have Mark Hancock, co-founder of PACS Group, owner of 323 skilled nursing facilities in 17 states. Current net worth estimated at $2.4 billion. PACS went public on the NYSE in 2024 at $21/share, currently at ~$36.50, and Hancock reportedly still holds 35%. The chart, since IPO had some wild moments, but seems to be back on track. Obviously, a very successful entrepreneur at this stage. In April of 2024, Hancock's own PV3 Investments (later PV3 Enterprises)...

I'd wait for the 25+ bosch version to go on sale and snag that. I basically paid half price for one... Having ridden several dji bikes at this point, the bosch gen 5 is still as good or better than the m1 dji, particularly for noise. Only downside is aesthetic of the downtube being built to accept the fat 800wh bosch battery. Great geo and kinematics on the crafty. Never dreamed I'd prefer to ride a 150mm rear travel e-bike at the bike park rather than any of my acoustic enduro bikes, but here we are.

Totally depends on use case. My wife and I use our e-bikes for self shuttling parks in BC. More power is better in this case, it gets you to the top of a boring fire road climb faster. And contrary to my own expectations, a 50 pound e-bike is actually faster descending than my best acoustic enduro bike. This is on tracks/trails with no pedalling below the speed cutoff of the e-bike. Forbidden dreadnought v2 coil/coil at 37 pounds vs. mondraker crafty xr coil/coil at 49.5 pounds. Both are fun. The acoustic bike is easier to move around in the...

Not sure if this is the right place to post but looks like ENVE is doing better than expected and has some extra marketing dollars to light on fire? ENVE composites backs Schumacher’s RLL IndyCar | RACER Know they have some other non-road/gravel product in the pipeline as well.

Wait a sec… tariffs are taxes paid by US importers and will eventually be passed on to the end consumer in the form of higher prices? Get outta here with that nonsense!

So something to note on pricing that is coming through. and this is not meant to be a political post. but the new steel tariffs HIGHLY affect bike prices. ESPECIALLY e-bikes. basically all the bike companies have to figure out the percentage of steel in a bike (HS, bearings, cassette, motors) and then that times the pricing of the bike etc. And these are not cheap... like some bikes increasing close to $1k just on tariff prices.... (cross posted to bike economics thread)

For both brands, you should always buy the most expensive chain they sell, so XX and XTR as the harder coatings on them often double to triple the usage you can get out of them, more than offsetting the cost increase. Zero friction cycling has the data, but XX flat top chains in particular are the cheapest chain per mile you will find.
