8/2/2023 11:13pm You need to dig way deeper as its actually the same suspension layout as used by Sunn Radical+ (designed by Max Commencal) and ridden by Nico Vouilloz 25 years ago, somehwere around 98/99/00. Rest of the bike is also heavily based on that design (split top tube, seat tube mount, paintscheme etc.) Radical+ is one of, if not, the most succesful bikes in the history of sport.

7/27/2023 1:03am Keep your day job and keep on racing. You may get a factory ride at some point, you may not, but keep riding and racing for the love of riding! You are learning so much by making this happen on your own and this approach will pay great dividends in life.

7/27/2023 1:01am Great writeup and thanks for sharing your story. The cost per run is a real eye-opener. Best of luck!

6/6/2023 3:59am Terminology can be very confusing, especially among people from differing sides of Suspension 'Assessment'. Among the Motorcycle fraternity, Rising Rate refers to the Spring / Damping forces created through a suspensions travel. Get among Car people, and you'll, generally, be talking about 'Wheel Rates'. And, I've found quite a few other different views and 'naming's' for suspension designs and assessment of them. The set up here, could / can be called a rising rate, in terms of it being a rising rate of leverage the shock is being subjected to. But, with so many peoples understanding of the term, being...

6/6/2023 3:46am Yes, that's what I work to with my frames - I have done so since the 70s. "Sway Back' Swingarm / Shock set ups are not what I regard as good 'Kinematics'.

6/6/2023 3:42am I've been telling people for ten years that my single pivot DH bike that I made was maximum rising rate. (The swing arm and shock are at ninety degrees to each other at full bottom out.

4/21/2023 1:37am The guy was a wanker for sure but wow it's not hard to take a step back and simply refuse to engage with a guy like that. Just provide him warranty service, no more no less... Rather than being a twit about it and then rescinding the offer. Using an open truss design like that for a crank is ridiculously stupid anyway. It's objectively bad engineering, the section is unable to deal with torsion efficiently and the stress concentrations will be hell for fatigue. I'm guessing they saw some cool-looking "generative design" products (which is a very bad place to...

3/26/2023 10:34pm I didn't notice it before, but when you look at the side profile of Dak's bike, the suspension and idler arrangement leaves A LOT of open space around the bottom bracket. Looks like this design could transfer over to an ebike pretty easily if that's what Intense was working towards.

3/23/2023 9:47pm I think the majority of riders don't fully grasp how to finetune the derailleur so the through headset routing doesn't impact them directly. It looks cleaner so it sells on the shop floor. So all the moaning and whining we do on these forums has a precisely diddly squat effect on the situation as at the end of the day it's the sales numbers that matter. And the sales of through-headset routed bikes might just be better than the sales of externally or through-frame routed bikes. We are vocal, but we are a minority. Sometimes the vocal minority can change...

3/8/2023 8:33pm Good points. On both my GX AXS derailleurs I've swapped the skinny red o-ring between the main derailleur body and the b-tension stop plate for one slightly thicker. It still bolts together the same, but it acts a little like a second clutch in the derailleur and doesn't let the main body flop around as much.

3/5/2023 8:52pm Regarding the 2023 Super Deluxe, Disclaimer- I don't have dyno readings ;-) I've had the good fortune of receiving support from Rockshox for my race team 'RaceKraft' which is a Jr Devo team. We have 6 bikes set up with the Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil. I'm a total shock nerd and have spent some time revalving these shocks for my riders. We've only had a couple of trips to the desert and to race Bootleg a few weeks ago. First off, the architecture of these things is rad. It's pretty clear that durability was a major focus. The shock shaft...

3/4/2023 9:49pm To be thourough and precise: a) it’s a dh-bike; b) it’s an enduro bike as well; c) it’s a horst-link high-pivot; d) it can take a gearbox or the new prototype drivetrain in the future; e) it’s possible to order with custom geo; f) it’s essentially a cr-mo/alu Norco Range HP on steroids with dh-standards for rear hub and bb. So yeah, regretably it’s pricy, but totally understandable why!
