2/22/2026 8:17am It’s cool how we can want or need different things from a powered MTB. And that options are out there. If 50+ pound Mtbs were all there was I wouldn’t be interested in an E Mtb.

2/22/2026 8:16am He means that it’s faster to respond to inputs from your hands and body, which can also mean more twitchy vs stable in some aspects, which is analogous to the steeper vs slacker head tube angle comparison. There are pros and cons of both sides depending on how/what/where you ride.

2/22/2026 8:12am Taller bars/more stack = more "flickability". An easy way of testing this is to ride a drop bar bike, an feel how the difference is between riding in the hoods Vs drops.

2/21/2026 11:57am I want range which mean often times a big battery. My 50+ lb bike can do anything my 40# enduro bike can do on the descents. I want to ride big routes in the mountains and enjoy them or ride up shit that used to be hike-a-bike only. I would agree if was the mid power or SL bikes were the only options I wouldnt buy one. I have a moto thats a completely different activity. Climbing on my ebike with friends I can still talk and have a conversation. Riding moto you have 20 mins total of conversation for...

2/20/2026 10:23pm Curious what your riding weight is when fully kitted up, and what mode you typically use for climbing? I'm a taller and heavier rider (~250lb kitted), and typically ride a ~50lb Bosch CX Gen 4 bike, but alternate between Eco/Off on flats/descents and Tour+ or eMTB modes when climbing to conserve range. I also still ride my SC Hightower when...

2/20/2026 2:20pm Upping the wattage and torque is easy to do and is really easy to market. You want to be fastest uphill? Buy this system. There are a lot of dudes who can't resist power level D-measuring contests. Lightening the batteries and motor is the hard part and what most of us want. It'll get there…

2/20/2026 2:20pm This is like when I'm speeding at 90mph on the freeway and try to explain to the police officer that I was only doing it for a short amount of time so it shouldn't count.

2/20/2026 1:52pm If someone is going 30mph up a multi use trail blowing past hikers I don’t think hikers are gonna care if the rider has been going 30mph for 10 seconds or 10 minutes

Jokes aside, I have had no problems with my Mavens, and would be really happy to see a Shimano equivalent for those that prefer Shimano.

2/19/2026 1:09am Bigger counter is that we do have nice things, and many of them have different names that people use. And colloquially 4-bar and horst link are used pretty interchangeably (see most suspension design breakdowns online like Pro's Closet, Bike Mag. Bike Radar, etc). The post that prompted this was referring to the tallboy that will be horst link, so you know what they meant. Or, if you didn't, you could ask if they meant that.

2/19/2026 1:06am Fair, but I think most mountain bikers probably use it to refer to horst link bikes, as in the new Tallboy. Not everyone is so obsessed with crustaceans to come up with new ways to define or mock it.
