I'm way more pumped on video projects like this that result in a usable trail for other people, as opposed to one-off spectacles that either get bulldozed when they're done or just slowly erode and covered with weeds in the middle of nowhere.

Fyi, after some desperation when parts weren't available this summer, local riders who just wanted to be able to ride just asked me to get their bikes going with whatever. This is when I found out that Shimano 11, 12 and eagle are all to a certain degree, completely interchangeable. The only issue I had was an SX derailleur with a GS SLX 11 speed which I somewhat blame on how poorly the sx shifter worked. My friends been on an XT 11 derailleur with his GX Eagle drivetrain for a month with zero issues. He says it shifts smoother...

Yeah?? Well, looks like your realm had 7 places to ride! I only have 2, and one of them has around 12 trails that were build by hand ( yes, you’ve read it right, by hand) by me and 20 more guys! You know how many fgk hours that is?? We could be with our families or, here’s a stupid idea: we could be riding our bikes, but no we were building berms and doubles and drops! In the Before Times, Rocky Mountain put out full-squish 26" and 27" bikes aimed at young shredders [and still do, if you can find them]. Not cheap, but they came with non-shit components and we had some parents slapping their old weight-weenie XC parts onto their kid's bikes to make them lighter. XTR, 685mm carbon bars, Hope Pro 2 wheelsets, random Ti bits, etc. I sold lots of XS 27" adult hardtails to kids as short as 4'10". 26" offerings are limited for sure.

I'd be happy to get him on a Rocky. Wife wants him to do a year of 26 before going 27.5, so for now it's 26's on his 24 bike and then maybe 26's on a 27.5 bike.

Yes, my kid does want one, they can thank Remy, he's on his fourth Commencal now, again Remy influence, already has 26's installed on his Supreme 24, which is what Propain offers. For 27.5 it looks like only the Spindrift, which he would love to have, but nothing happens when I click on the links for sizing and too much travel plus we're in the USA. Transition Scout XS would be perfect but he's not interested in it, he wants a Clash and I can't seem to convince him how much better the Scout geometry is. Decided that we would...

Frustrating being the parents of a stoked 11 year old who is ready for a bigger bike. Did the industry not foresee this market for XS 27.5 or 26 bikes? All I'm hearing is next year.

9/14/2021 4:34pm There is a piece called the derailleur bracket. Good chance that is the part that bent and can easily be replaced for much less. Seeing as you've had two incidents maybe Deore is the better replacement. FWIW, we have a whole box of broken SRAM shifters and derailleurs in the garage, everything in our Shimano box is still good going...
