1/30/2024 10:45pm Thanks for asking the question that was on my mind. If anyone's wondering, the specific Shimano grease from their repair documentation is called "Grease for Shimano Shadow RD+" and it looks like this: https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=105226 I'm guessing 50 grams of this stuff goes a loooooooooong way

1/29/2024 8:33am Still better to be an antiquated Boomer than an E-biker. Don't get me wrong you can own a E-bike, and if you are lucky enough to have a shed full of toys, besides the one that defines you, (your Mountain Bike in case you forgot) then good on you, you are doing mighty fine in life. My advice is simply that once you taste the sweet nectar of pedal assist, be aware that the transition is very had to resist and you may not like what it produces.

1/28/2024 10:38pm Never. While it's perfectly allowable to own an E-bike, to ride it, and even to enjoy yourself while doing it, the main rule to follow is that it should never ever become your primary two wheeled machine unless you want to become and E-biker. This transition is insidious in the fact that is rarely perceived by the person to whom it has sunk its fangs into. A good indicator that is has occurred is that their mountain bike has been hanging from a hook in the corner of the shed for months covered in a layer of dust, yet their...

1/22/2024 11:26pm Mentioning both the real and false trail names verbatim together in this thread raises the page’s SEO and makes the page more findable for those searching either name. It also negates the purpose of the false trail name. Just because the location is an open secret doesn’t mean it should be even more obvious. If you really want to ride the trail, you can find it, but putting in effort to discover it forces you to understand the level of obfuscation required to keep a trail like this from getting dozed. At the dawn of Trailforks people were putting all...

1/17/2024 12:53pm Sounds like Vans has been dumping some of their long time surfers and employees. Debt issues also being reported. There was also a surfer in their Pipe contest that ended up in the hospital with no insurance and people are asking why isn't Vans paying his bill. https://beachgrit.com/2024/01/vans-dumps-gudauskas-brothers-after-20-ye… Good entertainment in the Beach Grit comments btw...

12/21/2023 8:33am I recall him saying that he liked it, how composed it was but he didn't find it to be faster anywhere so it seemed to him like it was un necessary. I wonder about course variety, sudden weather changes and more time to adapt as reasons why it would have been a good choice to go high pivot. Greg liked the traditional layout for pumping and cornering. Jackson said in very well put interview that it was a bit of a shock going away from the high pivot Trek but he got used to the V10 and liked the cornering...

12/19/2023 8:45pm Increase pressure until it does not move much, slow the rebound to make it move less, and increase the low speed compression to make sure it does not move more. Now forget about it for about five years and you have successfully setup a DJ fork.

12/6/2023 1:27pm We live in a mad world. Cops used to show up at our house & break us down if a neighbor 3 miles away "described" a moto as we crossed a road to get to a trail/property we were allowed to go on. Now, you get to film every illegal activity on earth, post it online, name yourself something nerdy & the internet cuts you checks for being the world's biggest douche bags. We went to jail for turning a Hardees sign at 2am from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu with a line of cars behind us. My...

12/5/2023 1:46pm Yep- My fear is this will justify a high level of LE to the trails. They should start on the street first. 12yo on Surrron's everywhere here in Nocal. No enforcement. But I remember when they would hover in Heli's BITD to bust a MTB rider for using a cow trail that wasn't marked as MTB. It will make it very unpleasant.

12/5/2023 1:45pm So...all you Cali guys...is this guy on his Class 250 e-bike poaching bike/hike trails? Or can you just go down the street and hit this stuff he's filming on a XR100? https://youtu.be/I5jqlZ4RnhY?si=Bs2_Hg7y6_sWckIl&t=778 I don't know anything about trail systems in Cali, but in NC/SC, you can tell if you're on a moto trail or a bike/hike/horse trail. And no, there's no place where a moto can be on a multi-use trail here. I blame you all for this video popping into my feed. But it also is how I see things going. "Bike" parks all don't allow motors, but if...
