This reminds me of the horrific SX broadcasting where they have to say like "Monster Energy Series presented by Monster Energy". It can get even worse with team sponsors and then advertising afterwards. They really be like "he's making great time on that Monster Energy Kawasaki here at Monster Energy Supercross presented by Monster Energy, don't forget to pick up a can of Monster Energy at your local grocer today!" (I'm barely even exaggerating there.) in those regards MTB is MUCH more listenable lol

What's with Josh's obsession with pockets? If it's not a "pocket" on the track it's a "pocket" that a rider has slipped into from a time point of view. If it's of any help to him I'm happy to send him my old pocket calculator that I no longer have need of, it became redundant once I'd worked out how many pockets I have, but maybe he can make use of it?

It's nice to hear the course crew acknowledged that spot was too much of a G out at speed and riders could not control the lip, particularly with a lovely bit of side wind... So they took the time to shave off the kick on that lip so riders could survive at race pace and not lose it all to a little breeze. Downtime podcast has been doing AMAZING post race recaps with Neko. One of my favorite race time productions considering its on site information, right after the race, straight from the horses mouth (more or less)

As a non MX guy I couldn't relate to Ken at all and was honestly wondering why this guy is commentating on a downhill worldcup. To approach a broader audience, if that was the intention, it would have been totally fine to have him in the pre and post coverage as a guest. But in the booth?

I found it insulting to the racers and the sport. We have a bigger star from a bigger sport than mtb so let's suck up to him and not talk about the action that happening in this minor league sport. Like having Ken Roczen there some how legitimized downhill racing. It certainly doesn't hurt to recognize that legends from other sports are into dh, but a couple of quick discussions between race runs would have sufficed.

I have not been a fan of the commentating for some time but this weekend marked a new low. I don’t follow moto so Ken Roczen’s presence in the booth did absolutely nothing for me — it only detracted from the viewing experience as Josh just fanned out about moto stuff rather than talking about the actual race runs taking place. Josh’s poor and regionalized vocabulary is a bad trait for a commentator and he rarely has anything of value to add. Watch a basketball game if you want to see how much a caller can contribute. It's no substitute for talent, but is the fact that the kids growing into the sport over the last 10 years had access to some pretty amazing equipment a significant part of it too?

well Joe Breeden hadn't had a top 20 result since 2021 and this season so far hasn't been out of the top 20. Tuhoto is looking faster but just needs to keep it between the tape. He has made all the finals except Poland where he was 21st in qualies after not making any last year.

I'm going to pick "crucially" so I can be drunk before the junior women finish.

Oh Canada! Again! Pretty cool to see the results from all the momentum that's been building in the Canadian scene over the last 5-7 years.

Agreed. Would be ok for Ken for a rider or two but kicking the only person who’s been liked on the broadcast for someone who has very little insight on the race is a terrible call.

My man! I VPN’d as a verb into France and I can see the elite finals on the schedule now. Just how bad is WBD’s communication? It’s this bad for a paying fan, imagine how frustrating it must be for the teams and athletes who are trying to make a living working with them… No Q2 package…just because? Killing me. When did they decide they wouldn’t do one this week, and why didn’t they tell anyone? And don’t say it’s okay because they didn’t tell anyone when they made the first two. Cuz I’ll split your skull apart by pushing...

On site we got no live stream of Q2 unlike the past two races, just one shot of the finish jump so maybe sadly it won't be put out this week. Be nice if we knew though.
