I'm guessing that the the addition of XC to this round means we might not get the DH Q2 coverage this round. WB have been anything but consistent with their coverage , wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the case. I hope I'm wrong.

Spot on, gone are the days of a young Aussie or Kiwi buying a one way ticket to Europe, buying a shit old sprinter van and eating Petrol station bagguettes to make a career from riding bikes down a hill fast as fuck. 20+ Vanzacs have made successful careers from exactly that spirit of loving the sport and doing whatever it takes to succeed. Having a Mum who fondled an aliens balls on TV 25 years ago shouldn't be the new status quo. I used to wear an onion on my belt, as was the style at the time

ESO is the organizer. If they can’t introduce a venue that they choose and produce a race then what are these teams paying them for. Yeah if the lift was down or there is severe enough weather at the time. But mud? These guys cancelled a mtb race at the highest level for mud because of bad planning. It’s their literal job to work with the local organizations to have a all weather track so teams don’t pay them and fly across the world to not race. Red Bull never was in charge of medical. But they were pretty instrumental...

I see Wyn’s reason for anger. Didn’t he fight as a privateer to move and up where he is now? He wants others to have the same opportunity not have mommy and daddy buy spots on teams. He IMO has done more good for the sport of late than anyone else. So yiu know Im going to continue to believe he if fighting a fight he feels is right and not just an old man yelling get off my lawn.

You forgot that they dropped the elite women's field from 15 to 10 riders before putting it back up (and tried to spin it that they were doing something positive rather than just returning it to the RB numbers).

I think it’s time for more riders and teams to publicly air frustrations. Changes under redbull 80 to 60 (not sure Red Bull was even behind it) Protected riders after Aaron won dropping early. They simply wanted the best riders by standings on the broadcast. Changes under eso Paywall No protection Intro of semis live on YouTube Semis no longer broadcast Semis now a qualifying 2 replay. 60 to 30 men. Not sure we were even hitting the limits in the women’s field most races under redbull. 10 women to 15 women. Entirely new, complicated way of being able to...

I assume you're referring to Kate Mason. She used to work for Sky TV and host The Football Ramble podcast for them. It proved unpopular and she lost the gig. She puts this down to sexism, but I have to say the more I listen to her the more I doubt that. She's now entering her 3rd year in the job and as far as I can see she knows no more about the sport now than she did when she asked Nina Hoffman if she'd be wearing the rainbow stripes to the bar that night (after Nina had won...

Just want to throw praise Finn Iles way after his brillliant response to Wyns questions regarding the WBD broadcast on the wyntv Leogang track walk Video. I personally think Wyn has too much of a negative take generally regarding World Cup racing these days and it shows in his questions - Finns thoughtful response with suggestions to improve the current package without tearing anyone to shreds was great.

Re the little chat about commentary with Iles: IMO the best commentators are those who can analyse what's happening and then explain it. Don't simply tell me what's happening on screen; I'm already watching! Not everyone can do it (and they don't have to be an ex-pro, even though it helps) but good examples are Martin Brundle in F1, Ricky Ponting in cricket, Neil Adams in judo and Aaron Gwin when he steps into the DH commbox. They all add to the commentary by possessing a deeper insight into why what's happening on screen is happening, and then being able...

I am glad improvements have been made to the broadcast and we are at the very least seeing things go in the RIGHT direction, coming from arguably quite a low point. But at the same time I forgive any rider for having outright ill intentions towards the new organization considering WHAT WE HAD... And what we have now. I'm not saying they should have had their shit together day one, but they really dropped the... BALL from the start. And have absolutely crawled their way towards what you may call an okay or acceptable production. All while making cuts/changes and...

I'd love to know what the 2 UCI guys with clipboards were saying to each other after the Kieffer incident? "- I'd really like to make a decision on this, I can feel the stares from the fans -Yeah, me too but Josh is in the commentary booth and we need to check he's not going to put out a video that contradicts us -Well, I suppose I could always talk to Cathro again? -Nah, it'll just cause more shit -I know, I know. By the way, did you hear Ric's comments about the marshal sitting on the tall course...

Right on, that makes a lot of sense, complete runs probably aren't the move but a little less pre-show and more partial runs of the slower qualifiers might not hurt. I think they could make the 2nd qualifier a way more exciting broadcast by just showing the current racers time vs the current top time and the current 10th position. Or at the very least just show the leader board more after each run and talk about who just kicked out and who put a strong time in. Because I know that stuff generally I can make it exciting for...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the whole promise of cutting the field down to 30 riders was to make it so they could show all 30 of those runs in their entirety. It seems like WBD moved the goalposts on that front pretty hard if I'm remembering correctly.

If you’re gonna adamantly kick the very very first rider for being a minute late, you’d better not tell a guy he can start twice. It’s okay to not know what you’re doing, but you have to own it. Someone deserves an apology but I have no faith anyone will cop to screwing up. I could not believe the starting wand being a story again. Ridiculous. you come in spouting about how pro you’re gonna make it yet you have nothing to say about badgebros on track, ambiguous course markings, and how starting works? Maaaaaaaaaate

Awesome to see Gracey get her first win, well deserved. Good couple weeks for Canadians and the Squamish kids. Jackson today, Elly Hoskin with the EDR W and Ella MacPhee winning the U23 XCO last week - all went to the same high school.

I did it! I avoided you dingdongs and my dipshit friends and watched the YouTube Q2 as if it were live, with the only spoilers coming from UCI’s own YouTube channel (a “Dunne destroys another wheel!” and “Harnden crashes out!” Plastered on a couple of shorts…gonna employ a family member to navigate next week). Sick! Start gate rules are apparently beyond us, as a species. You must be there on time but also you can start a couple times if you want to work on your bike for a bit. Against the rules but the only face you see at...
