12/31/2024 9:46am My current understanding of the trump 2025 proposed tariff is 25% for Canada & Mexico for border issues and China get an additional % added on top of that 25%. That is for anything that is produced goods imported from those countries. But there is plenty more tariffs that already exist that the USA applies to various countries of origins...

Yeah, I would. There are enough ways to manipulate the way it feels that'd it be cool to ride it on different designs. I had a Genie shock show up this week (*was not in a bottle). If/when I have other test bikes that the shock fits I'll toss it on to see what it's like.

I just wanted to share a positive experience with Trickstuff and how their brakes can possibly be considered well supported here in North America. For a while now there was an understanding that after spending a lot of money on these, you will have to order spare parts from Germany. Long story short, I somehow ruptured the membrane/diaphragm in both levers. Hi there, Cam here from Outlier MTB. First and foremost, thank you all for your positive comments and support during our recent launch! I see that some of you have been discussing the actual pedal drop on this forum. There have been some misunderstandings that we would like to take some time to clear up. Our Pendulum pedal as it was released has 6mm of drop measured from the centre of the axle to the top of the platform. The best thing about those pedals for me would be how they should eliminate the need to replace bent and snapped pins after almost every ride (I suck and lots of rocks around here). I can't buy canadian made though because there is always a risk some of my money will end up supporting canadian hockey.

Some our local rippers / engineers came up with a very unique "axle-less" pedal. Machined here in Calgary, Alberta and testing in the rocky mountains. They use a big ol 6902 bearing for spinny duties. The pendulum (drop pedal) is super interesting. Void pedals (traditional flat) Pendulum pedals (12mm drop) "Our platform sits 12mm below the center of the axle. Most pedals place the platform 5mm or more above the center of the axle. I would avoid aluminum pistons like the plague. The thermal conductivity of aluminum is very high. I want to say like 4x that of stainless at least. Not what you want in a brake caliper. Stainless with a phenolic insert works well too. Stainless pistons are just easier to make or source. Phenolic pistons are a very specific resin that is molded at rather high pressures and then ground to the right dimension. Requires specific machinery whereas a stainless piston can be made on any mill or lathe.

Even with a thin piston wall in contact with the pad there is still significantly more heat transfer than other materials. Hard to get convection to out weigh conduction when it comes to heat transfer. When we were developing brake calipers, we really wanted to do stainless pistons because it's much easier to make stainless pistons, but the numbers just don't agree. This was testing comparing the temperature of the caliper body with stainless pistons similar to what you've described and phenolic pistons. The track was up on Chuckanut so nothing crazy.
