11/22/2024 11:04am Since there is only a small edge of the stainless piston that is touching the brake pad that mean heat transfer is mostly from the air pocket between the brake pad and the bottom of the stainless piston ? A solid stainless piston would fare much worse in terms of heat capacity and transfer ?

In Canada we have a program of duty drawbacks. If you import product to them export it you can claim back your initial duty paid on import. A quick google says US has a similar program.

11/13/2024 4:18am AFAIK only the Ti Bikes are welded in the USA for Alchemy, the carbon bikes are made in Taiwan. In terms of batch production, the others would be Reeb and Foes that are made in the USA.

11/3/2024 5:13pm If you like the feel and performance of metallic/sintered then MTX gold & galfer purple are your main option. Galfer green, MTX red, Trickstuff Power and other similar pads behave more like better organic pads.

Working for FSA I can 100% confirm that there is NO room in a ZS 56 HT to run a reach adjust for tapered. some for straight. The bigger issue for most users is getting the cups in straight (yes this really is an end user/shop issue that has to be heavily considered having dealt with other systems). The better option is the RAS reach adjust. Luckily MTB companies I think want to go away from internal routing, so more open to this option. We are trying....

FSA has a system called the RAS. not a full +/- 10mm (20mm overall) but about +/-5mm. Being shopped to companies right now with an open design so that it can become a standard. Discussions on angle as well (though gets into a MULTITUDE of cup options if you combo it all). We are trying... just need bike companies to buy in. But the designs are out there and being shopped.

Small tip for people using the Maven bleed kit. It's pretty much impossible to get the air completely out of the syringe hoses before installing them on the brakes, because after pushing the last of the air out, the seal causes the piston to retract slightly and pull a bubble of air back in. Just make sure you always start your bleed by pulling the syringe plunger slightly before pushing it to migrate this bubble out the hose and into the syringe reservoir, to avoid shooting this air bubble into your brakes and making your bleed more difficult than it...

10/4/2024 9:42am A full length chain is around 250g, the 2nd on the Pivot is probably a third of that so 85g, an alu chainring is around 60g so with axle and mounting hardware I would estimate it to be around 200-250g of extra weight to a normal setup or half a pound extra.
