Asa for the win! This track always seems to produce good racing, I'm sure Giant factory racing is a big fan. Boladou besting Vali in the wind was something, it looked possibly more windy for Boladous run. My big questions are, did Boladou have a dip in during her winners interview? Did Williams point at Asa when he came across the line or one of his coaches?
Ha, yeah you think the interviewer would tell her she had mud in her teeth before going live. Jordan mentioned in the post-race show that he was indeed pointing at Asa.

Probably unpopular opinion, but I think this placid course is a better track to watch than whistler was. Think it’s because the trees are more open at the top you see more track per camera shot and also as it’s not as steep it allows riders more opportunities to pull for gaps
I really like the track, that top woods section is one of my favorites to watch on any track all year. I do think it could be improved with 1 more tech section in that bottom little woods instead of that being more highspeed rollers/berms. Some of the grass corners on the piste are also fun. watching the best riders on those sweeping flat or off camber corners is always sick.

Mud makes more sense, I legit thought she packed her lip with a chaw at first doing it American style. Good on her, nice to see another first time winner in the women's category this year.
I'm sure both Jordan and Asa had a time waiting for the results to come in.

like you have to go to... 9th place from 2nd? to get the same time gap LMS put on 2nd.
nearly the same gap from 2nd to 10th. as he put from 1st to 2nd. damn

Where's this Bouladou come from?
Only made 2 finals (including champs) in 2024. Struggled up and down in 2025, with a best of 6th. Otherwise 10-15th and missed 3 finals.
This year her worst finals is 11th, missed only 2 finals, a 5th, a 3rd, and now her first elite win.
"She's beginning to believe..." - Morpheus or something
(She only won a single juniors race, with a strong but not storming juniors career.)
There's something in the water where she's from. Same area as Pompon, the Alrans, etc

Agree.
Being from down under he will come home to spring, early summer. He's racing pretty much all year around and has been killing it in Crankworx on homeground. Does a lot of Enduro back home as well. National Champion in DH ahead of Troy Brosnan the last three years i think.
Last year he had a 38 tooth chainring in Lake Placid, don't know about this year. That and 2000+ watts through the pedals. Kid is a beast.
Kind of interesting, hearing some of the riders - like Kolb, Vergier, Coulanges, and Amaury Pierron - making somewhat similar comments: They're all still top-15 riders, but I got a sense of frustration from them, and more than a little of that has to do with seeing the young riders have so much success this year. (And Amaury definitely misses the days of 60-rider finals and protected status...)

Maybe now that Vail resorts has hosted a WC we can go to one of their US resorts?
Imagine if any of the other WC venues in Europe or Canada had all that controversy + the added sting of the bike park there being closed with no sign of reopening. Must sound mental to those countries. Such is the state of things in the US I guess. Maybe DH becoming an Olympic sport will help these battles? US racers are 1/3 of the final (Whistler had 9) for the best in the world for crying out loud!
I hope for Snowshoe too. It was the worst track that provided some of the best racing. 5 different winners all with insane storylines around the win. No way Snowshoe pays the fee that WBD is charging now though. I heard they just cut their trail crew budget in half.

Cheers boys. We will start his block again in February in Maydena. You should see what he does to drivetrains...yeah 38t at all venues, lots of watts🤙
Still another year of Juniors next year for Tilly, but if this year's any indication next year should be a good one for her: 3 World Cup podiums, 1 World Cup win, and a World Championship, despite missing 4 races due to injury.
Two World Champs on the same team. Great year for Commençal Schwalbe.

As Whistler was emblematic of the BC riding for its feature/link/feature style, Lake Placid has turned out to be very USA. Late stage capitalism doing its thing!
And Snowshoe ain’t it, as far as World Cup DH goes. Cmon.
I'm not sure how many people noticed, but there was some race tape on the Placid track. On the motorway before the speed trap, both sides connecting 3 poles leading up one of the jumps.
Fast AF* debrief. Kind of interesting, hearing some of the riders - like Kolb, Vergier, Coulanges, and Amaury Pierron - making somewhat similar comments: They're all still...

I mean not many places in Appalachia that are a a rainforest. Like ft bill it had its own flavor. Which I think is very welcome versus some of the euro venues that can be hard to tell apart in many sections once the track isn’t fresh. Though I loved the lower woods in leogang in 2020 and the first couple seasons. I almost wish they’d go back to the bike park track just so it felt more unique. Sometimes what makes a race “bad” is also what makes it great. Variety is fantastic in a series.
I do doubt it happens without some outside money much like lake placid. Even with the bike park and resort properties I can’t imagine the return being there in the current environment. But I’d be excited to return to snowshoe even without a wc there tbh.
Agreed. Rewatch the slow-mo replay they showed of Lisa and Vali’s runs and you’ll see the trees moving in the background of Lisa’s run just as...

Okay...haha. I don't need to feel sorry for Vali, just surprised the best rider in the field is suddenly badly casing easy jumps. I love racing...

Alright, I’ve seen and heard enough post-race media - Vali had some bad luck with a gust. But it’s good to balance out some of the good luck she’s had with a couple of her wins with good luck for a first time World Cup winner.

I’d return to watch (and ride) at Snowshoe if that’s all they have, to be fair.
Variety is definitely cool in a racing series. I feel I’ve made my love and respect for the MarioKart course organizers very clear, they do it right. Ice track dirt track tarmac track…farm track space track dungeon track. Excellent camera work by that cloud guy too, I believe his name is Lakitu.
Again again again, I would pay money to watch these people race at the park across the street.

Fascinating. I know there is always a "changing of the guard", but it felt completely brutal this year. The young dudes are just mental. I fully expected all the guys you listed above to be getting wins and podiums still, even as they "age".
Going to be fascinated to see how Bruni does coming back. I've always thought the true test of greatness for an athlete is how deep they can go and still be scary to their competitors. Lebron is still star level into his 40s. That says so much. Troy, still near the top. Rachel comes back post-kid and gets a win. Minaar was still getting podiums at the end and on for the win at times. Bruni is a fierce competitor. Going to be great racing!
There were only what?—nine races. The field is really deep. We got three guys who won six of the races, leaving what?—15 or 20 dudes looking at the other three? 30 podium spots all year…the math is rough if you wanna spray champagne!
The feeder series. Where are they? They could be the new enduro, a place for the vets to go to continue to succeed. These guys need a couple more Monster series.

There was no tape, there was paint on the ground between the poles before the 2nd motorway double but that’s it.
If anyone complains about the song choice this time, @sspomer will be receiving a formal community request to revoke your Vital handle.
Meh, might as well have chucked in some bro hymn too. 2 overly played songs slightly misappropriated.
Anyway. Great race actually. Track worked well. Even a few line options in there!
Gonna be interesting to see what happens to the older riders these next few seasons in both fields. Will top 10-15/20 still count for their sponsors? Harsh but true. The only thing that will stall the continued rise of young talent is a change to the junior category, which would be sad.

The last scene is SO FUNNY!!!
Thank you, Neko and Asa, for that!!!
Freakin awesome!

When have people complained about the sleeper shreddit songs? Theyve all been awesome, just different at times
Taste in music is subjective.
Saying that, I never want to hear “Pink” in a mountain bike video ever again.
