Flat sections were fine. 1199 has everything a course could offer. The strongest rider has the advantage there because after all, these machines have to be pedaled…
I love that 1199 has a legit sense of place, a few tough pedals means its true Sea to Sky riding. Watching it you're thinking "yeah, that's Whistler."
Riding there is rarely a steep rip top to bottom. It's all about linking interesting sections and slabs, often with traverses or grunts between them.
Everyone, when you're in Whistler go do at least one day on the valley trails. Climb the flank or the road up to the Blackcomb trails. It'll hurt, but it'll be amazing. Mountain biking.
It's a brief shot, but dudes got some impressive juggling skills in there. I thought that I was fancy doing that one. I should find my juggling bag again... Get some lighter fluid for the torches.

Experienced a similar realization yesterday crawling up the hill to do a Less lap. Surreal forest and terrain, solid effort even on the descent, some flow and some jank. Just a good ol mountain bike ride, and 1199 pays homage well to the area.
The degradation time depends on many factors, but it will take at least five to ten years for the tapes to fully disintegrate, be wary of products claiming shorter periods
I love (almost) all music! It's just that Cat Empire is this:
This segment is where I first learned about the cat empire when this movie came out and I have been a fan ever since! This segment is also why the first lap I did at Whistler Bike Park 2 weeks ago included Karate Monkey!!

Anyone know what this box is on Asa’s frame (just behind head tube)?
I don’t see any other sensors for DAQ and too big to be transponder for race timing.
Looks like the GPS modules they strap to the top-30 bikes for finals. I think this is what they use to put the dot (rider) on the line (track) for HUD in the broadcast.
Isn’t tape potentially a safety issue as well? I assume that’s why they stopped taping at handlebar height and now tape at the ground (in XC anyway). Maybe they think that for DH, where you don’t have the “rubbin’s racin’” factor that XC has that the tape is less useful? Additionally not getting tangled up in the tape allows riders to rejoin the course quicker, which probably matters more in DH than in XC.
I think that not watching riders get their bars tangled up in in the tape and potentially crashing as a result has actually been pretty nice.
That said it was a huge bummer to see LSM get a DSQ, his run was epic. But in the end it was pretty clear, which is why he didn’t seem to really protest it. He said himself that he basically missed the pole because he was more focused on not crashing, which he did quite well. I’m not sure how tape would have changed things for the better.
That said, thank fucking god that the pole rule in XC isn’t strictly enforced like it is in DH, and they take more of an F1 approach where you are basically allowed to cut the course if you’re pushed off by a competitor (F1 though focuses more on whether you gain an unfair advantage as a result of doing so, which thankfully hasn’t really been gamed to that extent in xc yet).
But what would Alrans time have been if he could cut the course? Slippery slopes and all.
*Not serious, just here to stir the pot
Commencal is the only team to have gotten away with a course cut right? Amaury didn't get DSQ'ed the one race did he? We're just a couple of pot stirring Halloween witches out here.
Baggage handlers in Montreal hating life as the downhill teams fly in and the road teams fly out from the world champs.
Hopefully they would use a freight forwarder air freight service. Seems like enough bikes to fill a plane. Can't imagine security checking the contents of every bag.

We won't accept ANY complaints about the song choice for this one...IYKYK. 🤘

Anybody plays ska before a DH lap with me, they're getting left to take their weed induced nap.
One last shot to start it w/ Supernaut cover by Trent Reznor to bring the intensity up.
IDK, but it sounds like INTK. I've been allergic to The Cat Empire since they first graced local airwaves. Is this admission an enormous faux pas?

Oh well, I'll cop it. It's a shame you northern hemisphere types didn't discover Skunkhour instead!

the new forum lore, all racing threads will digress to tape chat eventually
And all women retiring from sport must have the use of their reproductive organs become a matter of speculation.
What place would Lachie's run have landed him in?
Someone had to have narced him out & I'm starting the rumour they were Frenchie.
