I believe Cairns is the track they propose to use.

Cairns, there has been talks of a thredbo WCDH track on the other side of the valley for years but nothings happened yet.

Goodman Santa Cruz to become Burgtec factory racing with Ratboy as the line spotter?

On the subject of Santa Cruz, the syndicate’s sponsor lineup looks like it’s getting a bit messy - Burgtec, one up and Peaty’s all kind of make the same products now and it seems like the riders are mixing and matching. I’d guess they’ll be forced to go all in on one up at some point now that they’re a part of Pon, maybe they’ll even let Chris King go?

Also interested to see what they do about o-chain now that it’s a sram product.

As much as I like the idea, the Pleney gondola does not give much vertical for a world cup track. It's a very fast lift, but only gives around 500m vert (less than Fort William), if you hard a world cup level track, descending on the steep gradients (rather than meandering like mainline), it'd be one short race time. I don't know what the terrain from the chairs above the Gondola is like.

Looking at my 2025 copy of Hurly Burly, most WC tracks are around 500m drop or less. La Thuile, MSA etc.. are kinda outliers. So Morzine would be perfect. But I imagine unlikely due to there not being much space at the bottom of the resort for team semi trucks etc?

What about the hardline Track in Maydena or any track there?

Not a rumour but I remember how much crap Felix Griffith got in the 2025 rumours about only being on Syndicate because of $, but the kid’s pretty damn good. He’s no Alran, Vermette, or Goldstone as a junior but still impressive.

From not qualifying in 2025 to become a podium contender in 2026 is good personal development.

I hope that syndicate sees it as a good development as well… 🤞

I wonder of he'll be cut loose at the end of the season  to make room for another Junior since i find it hard to see him making the top 30 next season . Syndicate showed they werent going to be carrying any passengers when they let Greenland go

Fair, and actually looking at the French champs they held on Pleney a few years back (sick track), it did give race times over 3mins. https://www.rootsandrain.com/event6548/2018-jul-29-ffc-french-dh-national-champs-18-morzine/results/

Certainly not much (any) space for team trucks or event infrastructure though. The Les Gets crush at the bottom of Pleney wouldn’t be too clever.
I guess issues around off piste riding on Pleney probably don’t disappear just because you want to build a race track either?

Canadians Megan Pretorious and Mack Manietta moving to U19 in 2028 I believe

Apologies for the obscure joke.  But also, not entirely far-fetched...

After a long and illustrious career that includes national and regional titles, multiple World Cup podium appearances and one World Cup win in 2024, Eleonora Farina is calling it a career. Congrats, enjoy the next chapter!

As far as I understand, DHI has been submitted for IOC consideration. The national federations seem to be aware that it might happen, but nothing is confirmed yet.

It might also only be added for Brisbane 2032 rather than becoming a permanent Olympic discipline, since DH obviously depends heavily on having a suitable course and venue.

That said, with the whole Red Bull urban/street racing concept — Stuttgart was amazing to watch — there are definitely some interesting possibilities for bringing DH closer to the crowds and making it work in an Olympic setting.

For now though: possible, but definitely not confirmed.

"As far as I understand" still does not qualify your source. For the IOC to even consider a new cycling discipline, meaning possibly hundreds of new athletes, would be a huge decision. A decision that would require some other cycling discipline to be removed from the calendar, similar to the removal of some track cycling events to accommodate BMX.

The more likely scenario is that XCC is added to the games, to go along side XCO (same athletes after all).

Either way, let's hope your source is incorrect as DH getting mixed up with all things IOC could be a horrible for the sport. Similar how we've seen a big decline in elite BMX racing series since Olympic debut and all of the political, funding and other issues on display since sports like freestyle BMX, Skateboard and the winter freestyle disciplines have been sucked into all things IOC.

Heard through the grapevine at a famous cycling event up north, this weekend that a long standing world cup venue will make a comeback + probably world champs in a foreseeable future

Individual Olympics can add a discretionary event just for their games. That’s how breakdancing ended up at Paris. This is a plus one and doesn’t remove another sport to the best of my knowledge.

Perhaps Oz just wants DH for their games.

Generally, when they approve one sport, they eliminate another. When BMX "got in," I think the IOC dropped a track cycling event.

What did they drop for break dancing in France and what are they dropping for flag football in the USA?

I don't see why DH can't be offsite somewhere at any venue. Surfing is permanently in despite not every venue being near the ocean.

That linked source (Brisbane Guide) is likely AI clickbait...and its wrong. MTB was first featured at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

That’s if it’s a permanent addition.
