The wildest weekend in mountain biking is about to hit Canada. Red Bull Hardline British Columbia is heading to Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver between October 16-17, 2026, pushing the limits of what's possible on two wheels. 2026 marks the 12th year of Red Bull Hardline since its inception in Wales in 2014, and the first-ever race in Canada promises another unmissable showdown as the world's most progressive male and female MTB riders push the limits on one of the most extreme courses in the sport.
TICKET INFORMATION OVERVIEW:
Important: Due to the venue location and limited parking capacity, there are only two ways spectators can access the event.
Option 1: Carpool Vehicle Ticket (valid for parking and general admission for up to 8 people, including the driver)
One ticket covers one vehicle carrying up to 8 people (including the driver). Gather your crew and split the cost of travel to the event.
Option 2: Cypress Coach Lines Bus + General Admission (single ticket)
Round-trip bus transportation to Cypress Mountain
One (1) single day general admission ticket
Ride sharing (e.g. Uber) or self-arranged pickup/drop-offs are not permitted.
We will continue to share all information including Ticket Info, FAQs and newsletter updates on redbull.ca/hardline so continue to visit for up to date information.
Presumably, there are actually 3 ways to access the event as you can always ride your bike.

Outside of being surprised that the shuttle option was more expensive than the car pool i think this is a pretty good way to handle it. Cypress has one road in and out so if they allowed everyone just to drive up without tickets it would cause a massive bottleneck.
It should come back, I think they're doing it again next year and holding off on Wales

Next week we will be launching a new event where we have the creative freedom to bring new ideas and a fresh take on gravity mountain bike events to life.
For the past few months, we have been working on something new. A mountain bike event that is more of a revolution, than an evolution. This new event will bring World Champions, World Cup Winners, and Red Bull Hardline winners together on a course like no other, with a brand-new model for global mountain bike event broadcasting.
TLDR: The race will use most of the Red Bull Hardline course, but with added focus on rider safety and weather-proofing of many sections. Rider numbers will be low with 25 invited riders (including both male and female riders) + 5 local wild cards who will act as reserves during the week. There's impressive potential for a big payday for both male and female riders (as an example, if 150K people pay to watch the event live, the athletes will share an $800K prize pool with over $100K going to the winners). The cost to view the event will be a one-off fee of about $10 USD for the early bird pricing (the event will be broadcast "as live" about 3 hours after the end of the race, which will allow for "schedule optimization to maximize live viewership potential").

Worth noting- broadcast pricing is planned to start at ~$10 USD (depending on exchange rate at the time). This won’t be a normal race broadcast as you know it- we are building out a full show, and when racing goes live we’ll have 40+ cameras on course.
I hear ya. Only so much money after wife, 2 kids and our bike habit. $10-15 for one race just doesn’t compute given how expensive the necessities are compared to 5 years ago.
I support my local bike shop even if the costs are a little higher sometimes.
If we want to see the sport continue in the ways we want to see it continue, we have to help fund it. $10 for a broadcast is fine when I can spend $10 on a not-very-good mocktail. Skip a drink or two out at a restaurant and it's handled. I should drink less sugar, anyway.
This is fucking sick in several ways. While chasing money isn't any of the riders top priority it is rad to see a payout that isn't peanuts. Secondly, its cool to have a way to give back to the athletes. Additionally I already pay to watch the broadcast, but I doubt that any of my subscription $$$ go to anything MTB related.
Tipping my hand a little, I work in the video game industry. There are many events that take a percentage of the revenue generated from the event and give it back to the winners. Its been a thing for a long while but really picked up in 2010. Premier events can bring in over 1 million $ for the winner. Yes, that is a one followed by six zeros. For a yearly event.
Will this be a rocky start, probably. But the potential is there to really lift the sport AND support the riders who are doing it. Unlike the current WB situation, which claims to be lifting the sport while continuing to shaft riders, teams and brands. My only two cents @maydenabikepark, make sure I can watch the replay spoiler free. Being in a totally different time zone, I usually get up, stay off social media, go for a big ride then watch the broadcast. Good on you guys!
Must admit that the biggest issue I have against how WC DH is evolving is the risk of glass ceilings and limits to race access being put in place by WB/UCI and the factory teams.
I don't know If invite only races are a better alternative from that viewpoint.
Does anyone have any course/build updates on the Cypress Hardline? I know we're still like, a month and a half out, but it'd be cool to see some progress. SUPER interested what kind of features there are going to be.

Last Hardline Tasmania the race was cancelled due to the weather. They better sort that out if they are gonna get my money.
Guessing you didn't read beyond the headline to where the PR talks of
"Importantly, while the course will still have huge features, some features will be scaling down a little to optimise rider safety, and improve functionality in mixed weather conditions. Central to the event is a goal to strike the perfect balance between optimising rider safety, while providing the ultimate course for riders to showcase their capability in a true race environment."
Presumably, there are actually 3 ways to access the event as you can always ride your bike.
There was a bit of chatter on the other site where they talked about how riding in was not going to be an option.

It's a bummer hardline Maydena is no more, I was looking forward to a proper global series.
Outside of being surprised that the shuttle option was more expensive than the car pool i think this is a pretty good way to handle it. Cypress has one road in and out so if they allowed everyone just to drive up without tickets it would cause a massive bottleneck.
The road up is undergoing a 3 month paving project and has been closed for riding up since mid July .
It should come back, I think they're doing it again next year and holding off on Wales
