New Bottlerocket announced. Full details on the 9th.
https://www.transitionbikes.com/Bikes/Bottlerocket-History
Transition is re-releasing a new Bottlerocket next Thursday, October 9th! They haven't sent over full details yet, but provided some history of the Rocket images. I'm pretty hyped they're bringing this bike back. #freerideissonotdead
the forum always knows first 😂
Looks like modular dropout and lower shock mount?
I’m curious to see how this fits into the lineup with the Patrol.
It seems like they have a lot of overlapping bikes in the 160-180mm space.
trying to do my best enhance.gif. the wheels look to be the same size. its positioned as a freeride bike, so its possible they went full 27.5.
They better bring back the PBR edition!
I would guess that along with some geometry tweaks to be a little more playful..
Isn't the Bottle Rocket a shorter travel bike, like 120mm? Looks like it is metal, so that's good.
I have a steel Trail or Park 26" circa 2005 or so, still a good pump track bike/dirt jumper.
it was, but they've also got this one pictured as running a dual crown fork, so I'm assuming it'll be in the 160-180mm range. might be similar to say, the norco shore.
Pretty sure it's dual 27.5? At least that's what I've heard. Definitely more freeride oriented than trail/enduro/race oriented.
I agree, it looks like it’s full 27.5.
It seems like an odd business decision though, other brands seem to be trying to cut down on number of models. Currently Transition has the Sentinel (can be long shocked to 160), the Patrol (160 or 170 depending on shock), and the Spire (160 or 170 depending on shock). Adding a 4th bike in the 160-180mm range is an odd choice.
The Patrol is great in a Dual Crown Freeride setup. Maybe they’re gonna combine the Patrol and the Spire into one bike. They’re both due for update, and that would cut down the overlap.
Love that Forbiddens latest email pays true homage to the Crab link:
"Still wondering what the f**** we’re on about with all the crab stuff?
A theory exists called Carcinisation wherein all non-crab crustaceans evolve a crab-like body plan. A very clever Vital MTB user noticed how many mountain bikes brands had evolved towards the same form and linkage lay out. He declared that this new evolution of bike layouts be named the crab link. And many pages of crab jokes followed.
It’s an obscure and very inside joke. But hey, now you’re in on it too."
Trend setters we are.
Troy has the thing on his Boxxer but Luca doesn’t
Original bottlerocket was 140mm in the rear. Had a fun few minutes of digging deep into my youtube to find a video of me riding my bottle rocket around 2007 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h_nnyfWeSw
Bottle Rocket in name only.
So they updated the scout and named it the bottle rocket?
I just gotta say, as far as mtb online community contributions to the lexicon go... crab link is way better then downcountry. Feels the right amount of "inside baseball" and too far out there for the masses to absorb.
Feel like this is going to be one of those if you know you know inside jokes for a long time to come. You guys should be satisfied with yourselves lol.
It’s full 27 for sure. My guess based on other samples/prototypes I’ve seen floating around is that the TR 11 is just going to be a longer travel mullet of this in the spire is going to be a shorter travel mullet version of this. Transition has a LOT of their bikes, overlapping and using the same parts to make things simple for their design team over in Taiwan. Seems like a smart move in today’s day and age to share parts with as many frames as possible.
R&D at Rockshox may not get the idea. But dimpling is less efficient when you could rib the fork for the riders pleasure. I dont know just my 2 cents.
I'm losing track of how I'm supposed to be riding my bike at this point, I don't think I stretch enough for this new-age tech
thanks to AI and forbidden for not giving the people in this forum thread credit for the term.
Scout is now advertised as a junior frame with nothing bigger than a medium (which is slightly smaller than your modem medium)
Based on dual crown compatible, Fest series, park lap, Rampage, freeride kinda riding from Nico Vink, Hannah B, Talus, and Jaxson, I have a hard time believing it's still a 150mm trail bike...
I will name a beer after it, and explain the origin via blog.
I guess we can all commiserate with artists' hatred of AI.
FREERIDE BIKES ARE BACK ON THE MENU BOIZ!
first the NS Soda, now this.
I'm imagining 27 inch front wheels/forks squared up all bloody like Stan Marsh: "i aint heard no bell!!"
Are they gonna go full gangster and offer a single speed no dropper model? Or just frame only for people who want such a thing?
I need a company to make a copy of the Dartmoor Jibbird over here, since I don't think I can just buy one in the US. Trying to think of what normal models I could bodge into a similar build. I shouldn't have given up on my Kona Process slope/slalom project
Free ride never left Maren makes a free ride bike commencal has made two free ride bikes. Transition technically made two free ride bikes if you count the patrol and the spire especially for the fact that both can be run in 27 five with no issues. The Santa Cruz nomad is another amazing free ride bike. YT. Propain specialized. Even track offers the session with the ability to run for 27. There’s countless other ones that and currently are available. To be honest, the most freeride thing you can do is take a bike like a patrol long stroke it and put two small wheels on it.
