I know this concept was discussed a few pages ago. I appreciate the effort to create something that doesn't exist. I also don't mind the extra cable at my cockpit for a mechanical dropper. The angle the clevis connects to the rear triangle is definitely weird, but if I remember correctly esker uses a DW design called Orbit or something so I doubt the side loading was completely ignored.

Correction : the platform is called Orion suspension, marginally more pretentious

Looks awesome, but with so many dropper length options and shims isn't it possible for everyone except freakishly tall riders to get their max drop? Personally wouldn't sacrifice 28-35mm of drop (Type A and B bikes Santa Cruz, Trek, Spesh, etc) and $180 just for electronic actuation. (could be good on 170mm+ park bikes where at max drop the tire might hit the seat tho)

Electronic droppers feel like blockchain. A solution desperately searching for a problem.

Give me a wirelessly actuated Siwtchgrade and now we're talkin.

To be fair, the red ultimates they released in that package with four rotors, that sweet zipper rotor bag, adapters, both types of pads, and a Pro bleed kit was an insane value. It was probably $1100 worth of stuff, so I would be shocked if they didn't raise the price if they choose to sell another bundle. It cost the same thing as buying just brakes.

Is there an incident(s) thats triggered this? One of the things i love about this site is that I've never even thought about the need for this. Even the incidents like a certain bike company that only sells mullet configuration's product launch was so much fun that I'd never want that blocked.

i remember pricing out all the rotors & accessories when it was announced. it was such a screaming deal i had to get one.  still sitting in a box. but now i have a new frame for them to go on.

Diamondback Release with straight tubes anyone?

Diamondback Release was just a toptube mounted VPP layout. Esker Orion is a bit different.

Linkage design had the different chart for the previous Esker models with the same suspension layout:

https://linkagedesign.blogspot.com/2021/05/esker-rowl-29-2021.html

it looks to behave similar to old top tube VPP layout but with less pedal kickback:

-High anti-squat at sag but drops off sharply after 50% travel

-High anti rise % at sag but also drops off sharply after 50% travel all the way to FSR % at full travel

-Flat spot in the leverage ratio curve in the first 30% of travel but a linear falling leverage ratio after 50% travel with no funky stuff at 90-100% travel.

Only it's not, I would call it a 3 link, counting the clavis connection to the rear triangle, but it's closer to the linkage placement of something like an Unno, two short links, mounted very low, the lower being concentric on the bb

I know this concept was discussed a few pages ago. I appreciate the effort to create something that doesn't exist. I also don't mind the extra cable at my cockpit for a mechanical dropper. I guess if you really want electronic/wireless without having to run the new gen of wireless droppers that look terrible with the battery at the collar, this is for you haha

Electronic droppers feel like blockchain. A solution desperately searching for a problem.

Give me a wirelessly actuated Siwtchgrade and now we're talkin.

Problem is, we don't have a system of defining this.

There are a number of factors that affect how much drop you can run.

Ive got a 210 oneup in my large santa cruz (at 6'0"). got at least 50-60mm showing above the collar.

that bike could have a 2 inch longer seat tube and I would be all "slammed seatpost brah".... but with no functional difference for me at my height.

eventually, with the SC shock tunnel, I will be limited by insertion depth. whether thats with a longer drop or with an add on actuator. but that frame statistic is only given as "insertion depth" and isn't immediately obvious. And insertion depth is then tied to seatpost length which is fairly arbritrary as above.

Straight seattube frames can end up with the opposite problem, no issue with insertion into the frame but a seat post will also have a minimum insertion.

The total seatpost stack for a given length of drop can vary by like 50mm between manufacturers.

And finally inside leg measurement can vary between people of the same height.

Oh and also crank length. shorten your cranks 10mm, seat goes up 10mm, potential for more drop but if for example you are moving to the next size up of one-up and shimming it down, thats ~40mm longer post for that 10mm drop. Will it fit?

what we really need is some sort of calculator where you input your frame's ST length, insertion depth, brand of dropper and inside leg measurement/prefered BB to saddle rail length and it tells you what length dropper to buy.

I think I'm a fairly average 6 footer, so I just buy large frames - but every time a brand tries to be different like specialised S sizing - "you can pick the size based on the reach you want" - I'm like, thats great for descending performance for people who know their preferences, but will I actually be able to physically pedal this thing which is still a fairly crucial function of a trail/enduro bike.

that company is apparently still around. someone over on RM has one and quite likes it, he's ridden with one of the company's owners apparently, who - by his own admission - agrees that he isn't very computer / media savvy.

Looks like that Mavic road ebike motor that they teased a few years ago also is Cycloidal, and they even patented it.

From the videos I've seen of that one, there doesn't seem to be a noise issue.
