Who knows (outside of WBD) who'll get those spots? The way this whole thing has been structured it's anyone's guess what criteria they'll be using. I know they've given a list of things that'll be taken into consideration, but which elements they'll prioritise (and whether other factors will also be taken into consideration) remain to be seen.

Has anyone considered Cami to Atherton? Emily's ties to Continental may have helped put things together. Perhaps a similar paycheck to Kolb as well so a like for like change.

Given the lack of non-cycling sponsors in MTB, how is this not the biggest story of the weekend?
Plenty of non-cycling sponsors in the XC world (Ford for example from the car world), its just DH/enduro that lacks them.

I guess I wouldn’t say there are plenty. Rockrider Ford and Jolanda’s deal seem to be the exception rather than the rule. I remember folks being stoked about Ford supporting a team, but I don’t remember much chatter about Jolanda’s deal, and there hasn’t really been any reporting on the Kate deal.
I will acknowledge that Kate has more announcements to make, and that if no one sent out a press release for this one piece of her set-up for the year, it’s hard for media to know what to say. However, any major non-MTB brands supporting riders is still a big deal, even in XC. I’m tempted to calculate the share of sponsors in XC, DH, and road that aren’t cycling companies.
Smart play by Rivian to prove that their truck can haul a bike around, something one of their direct competitor struggles with.
Though the bike on the back of the truck without a tailgate pad makes me wince.
Realistically though, this sport needs outside money at all levels and it's nice to see something other than an energy drink picking up the tab. If there is one "hopeful" outcome with the gravity side becoming more "elite" is that more outside advertising money might come in..

Good move for Rivian.. They have pushed themselves as an outdoor adventure vehicle and sponsoring someone in the MTB world ties in to that. Even before this announcement, they were my pick if I had the funds to buy an EV..
