heard that Wyn, or Gwin, may have been spotted on a Hyper belt drive.
Cami is going to Scott.
Dak is now driving truck and looking for outside sponsors.
Phil has a new lubricant sponsor that will get him to the races.
And EVL is off Monster, in talks with water for new helmet sponsor. Should help her when it rains.

"heard that Wyn, or Gwin"

Do you mean you literally overheard someone say *wyn was spotted on a hyper, and you weren't sure if they said Wyn, Gwin or any other -win name, presumably because you were hiding in the closet, covertly listening in to one side of a phone conversation, or perhaps even using one of those spy-radar listening device things? If so, that is the kind of team rumour I am here for.

Ha! Yes those are pretty sweet. No, I’m a mountain biker, I heard it from the voices in my head 🙃. But it could be an interesting fit for Wyn, and definitely could be a revenue stream for Gwin without infringing on his potential clientele. Just trying to introduce some more fun into rumors, sorry if the joke didn’t land. And it could go into hyperdrive.
For Cami, I’m thinking Yeti or Scott because the Pivot is an air shock from what I’ve seen. Black and white photos with something over the head tube. BC to Scott and maybe Cami too.
Also surprised no one has mentioned Erice isn’t wearing her Monster gear in her Hardline or team pics. Maybe something new coming.

I always considered this a "heard it on the bush telegraph" thread rather than a "make some shit up for my own entertainment" thread.

i don't think gamux will continue to support 2 teams, see the interview with the designer of the bike from the craft bike days:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZDNNnlvflw

he was hinting at something new team related back in november, but could not say what (when the wilson rumor was already out)

I would have thought that Intense FR would get a wildcard because gearbox bike.

Atherton again with the gearbox and the name, but have they announced any riders yet other than Charlie Hatton?

Who knows (outside of WBD) who'll get those spots? The way this whole thing has been structured it's anyone's guess what criteria they'll be using. I know they've given a list of things that'll be taken into consideration, but which elements they'll prioritise (and whether other factors will also be taken into consideration) remain to be seen.

This thread moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Actually,  with the rate of the posts on this page if you stop to look at something else,  you'll need some free time to catch up...

I didn't see this mentioned by TFR on bell helmets instead of 100% is interesting to me, especially after Reece and Kade's hate for them, good to see they finally switched

Rumored 100% quit making helmets, and focusing on sunglasses.  That would make sense if true.

Looks like Kate Courtney is riding an Allied BC 40 on her IG pics.

Has anyone considered Cami to Atherton? Emily's ties to Continental may have helped put things together. Perhaps a similar paycheck to Kolb as well so a like for like change.

And she's picked up a Rivian sponsorship.

Given the lack of non-cycling sponsors in MTB, how is this not the biggest story of the weekend?

Plenty of non-cycling sponsors in the XC world (Ford for example from the car world), its just DH/enduro that lacks them.

I guess I wouldn’t say there are plenty. Rockrider Ford and Jolanda’s deal seem to be the exception rather than the rule. I remember folks being stoked about Ford supporting a team, but I don’t remember much chatter about Jolanda’s deal, and there hasn’t really been any reporting on the Kate deal.

I will acknowledge that Kate has more announcements to make, and that if no one sent out a press release for this one piece of her set-up for the year, it’s hard for media to know what to say. However, any major non-MTB brands supporting riders is still a big deal, even in XC. I’m tempted to calculate the share of sponsors in XC, DH, and road that aren’t cycling companies.

Realistically though, this sport needs outside money at all levels and it's nice to see something other than an energy drink picking up the tab. If there is one "hopeful" outcome with the gravity side becoming more "elite" is that more outside advertising money might come in..

Edit: Apparently rivian has a bespoke truck pad! I stand corrected

Good move for Rivian.. They have pushed themselves as an outdoor adventure vehicle and sponsoring someone in the MTB world ties in to that. Even before this announcement, they were my pick if I had the funds to buy an EV..
