I assume these new Kona's were in the pipeline before the original owners re acquired it. It's only been a few months so I would give them some time to work on new things.
I think they should relaunch the Sticky name with a fun and playful gravity focused bike a la the Specialized Status.
Spoke to some of the Kona UK team that were at the UK bike show a few weeks ago - they were showing one of the 153s and some other new models (these to be announced hopefully August/September).
These were all ready to be shipped from Taiwan months ago, but Kent had held them up (guess not paying up) - UK distributor was in talks to get some of these but then sale back to original owners have unlocked the shipments.
Sticky Deluxe.
And bring back the Humuhumu-Nukunuku-A-Pua'a
Curious,
I thought they look like a good iteration on the previous model
Carbon and alu
alu has external cables, carbon id fully guided, no headset cable routing
geo looks good, shortish CS and WB, should be a nimble bike
full water bottle, accessory mount, frame protection looks good
good colours, aesthetically they look quite good, Konas simple faux bar.
Personally, the brake choices seem underwhelming, but that has been Konas MO for a while now.
Other than frame storage, what more would you like from a couple trail bikes?
noticed that the base model 134 comes in with an MSRP of under $2k USD. definitely a budget build, but IMO its good to see that there are proper bikes in that price range for new riders looking at their first bike.
Definitely. Great standover.Good spec too. Yari works well and ive put 10 spd 11-48 microshift advent x on my eeb and im blown away how well it works. Never misses a beat. Bike shops should have an ez time pumping those out
keep 2 7 5 alive
make kona freeride again
loving the new models but worried about dual 27 being a last gen hangover that looks destined for the chopping block. dont they realize a 167 26inch is what the people want!? right?? errr
my sons 24" Giant STP came with microshift advent 8 speed and I have been impressed with how good it is for the price.
Matty Hunter just posted a bunch of Pictures on his IG that are clearly the Aluminum version of the new Stumpjumper. (Sorry, I don’t know how to link IG pictures on my phone, my kids probably do)
dat feeling when you see that tasty cable routing for a shifting cable HNNGGH feeds the soul
I appreciate the value and performance of my Advent X, ran it on a few bikes, but the cassette wore out after less than a season.
My cassette is a steel 10spd, maybe they all are. 2nd chain and ill be putting on a 3rd soon as long as it works. Id guess about 3000km on it. Good chance its nearing the end though. Shifter and der still feel like new
A shop I used to work at bought a bunch of the previous 134 base model (which I believe was the same price) expecting the same, and they sold absolutely terribly. Put a 35 on it instead of a Recon for $1999 and I think that'd be much more compelling, and it's definitely better than the entry-level Rift Zone with a Recon, Suntour shock, and Deore 10spd that we sold for about the same price. Up until about $2500 there are usually just too many compromises for most people (the base 153 at that price looks good though).
I was at a Norco dealer and we sold absolute boatloads of the previous generations of opening price point fluids and those came with an utterly dogshit suspension spec. The Suntour fork borderline didn't work and the X-fusion shock's bushings knocked in a couple weeks if the bike was actually ridden. Sold so many fox mounting hardware and bushing kits to sort those out at a deep discount. I view these Kona models as a significant upgrade in that department.
Depends on the market I guess.

Hey, I did a major rebuild this spring on the corner in the third picture! I'm basically famous!
Matt Hunter’s Stumpy 15 alloy
not only are you a couple posts late... but i think the internet talking about it has forced him to remove it in some manner of breaking embargo (or more so just worried of ruining relationship with the big s lol)
Fixed it for you. Also hardly believe that would harm him in any way - that bike is known to come, was already shown last week just in a different material, there is really nothing new or secret at all.
Most likely their usual guerilla marketing – show it, make people talk about it, shut it down like "oops".
well thats what im sayin but apparently it was enough to force a removal lol
i mean hes not like a journalist under embargo in any way i presume
WE GOT DA RECEIPTS... U CANT DENY OUR EYES THE BEAUTY THAT IS SHIFT CABLE ROUTING
i wanna see the first person to zip tie a shift cable to a carbon stumpy...
I think they are steel with the final granny being aluminum.
I got up from my desk to go take a pic of mine, but I threw it away I think. Even the steel teeth were bent and worn. Granted I'm 190 pounds and grind up steep climbs at a low cadence.
Other than the potentially short seat tube insertion, this looks like an amazing bike. I'd love to try one in both configurations to feel the difference.
US site still has every size available for Comp and Expert in both colorways.
Just like the UCI website.
Australian site has all sizes too.
I think there are stock constraints in certain regions for the Enduro - I read of someone who had been approved a warranty replacement frame, but had to wait for stock..
