Fork was sent in 2022, so likely a 2023 model. Oh gosh a year beyond release on a fork that’s still widely available to consumers, how utterly ridiculous for Seb to write about its shortcomings as a heavier rider. Who hurt you.
That fork has definitely had some strange issues over time all of which DVO have solved for me at no cost. The weird part for me is that fork has been out almost 6 years and pinkbike choose to give it their only review a month after the new one is released. They must really dislike DVO haha
It sounds like he didn’t have a great experience with the fork, and had a job to do. Which is to write about his experience.
DVO has got interesting concepts, but from the other article I agree with Seb. Hope the 38 air version help the drawbacks to OTT.
Until Fox dropped the 38 and then the rest of the sheep followed. At least the 38 has some great parts, the air spring been one. The Zeb has in 2023 a terrible air spring and now a terrible damper and let's be honest the DVO will just be all round shit with appalling QC, a crap damper and an even worse air spring.
Does anyone remember Paul Astons experience with DVO? Jesus that fork was worse than an entry level Suntour, who make and assemble everything for DVO. DVO blamed all the issues on Covid and them not been able to get to Taiwan to over see assembly. Well what was happening in the years before Covid when the product was still hit or miss? Hell the damper seal head has been crap and sticky since the Diamond. Oh BTW what you need is a 38mm fork.....
Personally from what I have seen the quality is hit and miss. If it was assembled right, performance is fine and will do most everything a Zeb or 38 can. Maybe not better, but it's something you can trust.
As far as Aston goes, even when he's right he sounds like a crying baby. "If DVO doesn't like this article send me $4000 worth of suspension for no charge, I'll keep one after testing it and sell the other"
IIRC he ponied up the dollar for the DVO himself. The Disto didn't give a shit that the product was unridable and you had Mr Head on a Stick DVO NZ chiming in saying "pretty please send it me and I will build it right for you". All Paul wants is product off the production line that is the same as what the end user gets.
Why I said "Even when he's right". That experience with that suspension legitimately was terrible, I'll give him that. Definitely doesn't seem like THAT's the normal though. Gotta keep in mind that DVO produces OEM suspension for a pretty big list of companies. If it's a bad experience it's likely going to be closer to Seb, not Aston.
So he happened to get one of the shittest forks DVO have ever made just by chance LOL?
MTB forums/comments: Reviewers are industry schills, they never write anything bad about any products. Everyone knows that <product x> sucks/is unrideable/will fail and won't get warranty support.
Also MTB forums/comments: This reviewer wrote something critical about a product I happen to like, they must be biased against that company. Total hatchet job man!
As it would happen, yes. Bad things happen lol. Production if left unchecked can produce some really bad stuff.
In no way making excuses for poor product for DVO either, I myself haven't had good experiences with them. I just don't like Aston.
Let's stop arguing about it though and bring it back to tech rumors.
Well, I would expect a tech article on a fork to come out for it's debut.
If not, it would come out listed as a "Long Term Review".
The fork is literally out of production. Personally, I think PB just had a quota, Seb had an old ass article in his archive & submitted to meet the quota for the day.
If Vital published a "review" of a 2 year old out of production fork, no way in hell would I respect that with some definitive prefaces for doing it.
Yeah this was super bizarre, although not that surprising given the platform. The review was pretty accurate but terrible timing when the new version has already been launched and addresses every one of those shortcomings! The problem is people are going to skim the article and think it’s referring to the new one, so it’s straight up terrible journalism. I don’t strictly mind reviews calling out a bad product, but if it’s not even remotely current then it’s either lazy content creation or they have an agenda
It might be out of production but it’s still for sale all over the internet, at full retail price, including on DVO’s own website, so there’s that.
Did you actually click to see if it was available?? When I click on it it says out of stock. You just learning how to internet??
Gee I don’t know bro are you learning how to internet? They have 29” forks in stock in every travel and color except black 160 and 170. 27.5 front wheels don’t count because those are for peasants.
You sure about that? Maybe you might want to double check...
Welp, I am the newb and just learning how to internet. When I clicked and looked it was all 27.5" and I didn't scroll thru all the options... I'll just keep my mouth shut and go back to PB. My apologies and as you were.
LOL don’t be so hard on yourself.
I deserve it. 🤷♂️🤷♂️

New Helm I guess?
Helm 138. 38 mm stanchions. 138 because Halloween.
I’ve seen some folks hiding what looks like a new shock from CC
If it's as ugly as the Kitsuma, then i'd rather they keep it hidden.
i'm seeing an add banner for fox live valve on this site and the shock doesn' t look similar since the live valve i know uses cables... did someone jump the gun?
That is the current live shock. See where the wire plugs in where the yellow arrow is. Next version that is in RAD phase looks considerably different
Haven’t seen this posted anywhere yet, but I came across it on Instagram. Looks like ND Tuned is prototyping a 38mm stanchion fork, with a less than conventional construction of the lowers as well? Anyone know any details?
