The black bike in this thread has a number of Specialized details.  Saddle is Spec.  Tires look to be Cannibals.  Chainstay protector looks just like the one on my Levo, as does the rubber flap in between the CS & ST, and the yoke.

And the pic was from Specialized Gravity IG.

Interesting tidbit from Misspent Summers enduro coverage email…

Whispers from Eurobike: We know this isn’t enduro related content (ERC), but rumours travel fast when you get the entire bicycle industry in one place. You’ve probably heard about the industry over-stock crisis (brands, distributors and retailers got a bit excited with their order quantities during the Covid bicycle boom. Now things have slowed down drastically they’re left with either massive excess inventory or bills they can’t pay – or both). Unsurprisingly and unfortunately, it sounds like some big bike companies will be going deeper into full crisis mode or even shutting down completely by the end of 2023. We wish everyone the best of luck navigating the tricky times ahead

Any guesses as to who is in trouble?

I'd guess mid sized without financial support from a larger group.....

So-Marin,Devinci,Rocky Mountain,Norco.

Norco is a part of the Live to Play Sports group.

EDIT: though considering Live to Play is a distributor of components in Canada... Yeah, might be a bit shakey.

I would assume many of the big brands also have record profits from the pandemic and will find a way to be pretty successful at the current moment.  Certainly cutting back but not necessarily in trouble.

all these brands that got bought out at huge dollars based on “false” quarterly and yearly growth on the other hand I’d imagine may be in a different scenario.  Especially since most the buyers were large investment firms which are all taking a downturn in this market as well.

Im not convinced Marin is, I've seen them ramp up and they are working on a few bikes at the moment.
Their bikes seem to of come in small batches and all sold out.

Not just big brands, but you can look around at some of the sales going on right now and assume they need to just get some cash. I’ve been looking at a Revel because they have some stuff marked down like 20-25%

Oh boy, I worked at a dealer last year that carries all four of those. They (the dealer) were and probably still are stuck with excess inventory, but things will probably improve a bit with the summer season. Not sure on the companies' situations, though.

They're also the house brand of a powerhouse bike manufacturer. I think they'll be fine.

P.S., It's kinda funny how the tech rumors thread - something you think would be very niche - has somehow turned into Vital's general thread

Quite interested to see the geo on the HD6, does anyone know when it's being released? Must be any day now they've shown the production paint.

I think someone said it could run full 29er a few pages but so far I've only seen it being run as mullet and I can't see any flip chips from the screen grabs. Hopefully it can run both.

Hi guys. Any hint /news for the Forbidden Dreadnought V2?

Seeing as the Dreadnaught and Druid are the same rear end I can only imagine it’ll be exactly the same as the Druid with a longer shock.   I’m REALLY hopping for a 170-180 park bike!

Considering the feebacks from the shops (bike manufacturer, textile brands, accessories, etc. forcing the pre-orders in shops already jam packed) I would say it is faster to figure out who isn't in trouble really.

They are moving away from single high pivot to an inverted horst-link high pivot, if i remember correctly, so the Druid, the Dreadnought and the dh-bike will all be the same suspension concept. Think some of their riders were seen on inverted horst-link enduro prototypes already, not Druids. Smile

The new druid is absolutely a high pivot inverted horst link.

Do you mean the new Maven or the DB8 or whatever E-bike brakes? I'm fairly certain you can't order the Maven yet.

Initially, the Dreadnought came out a little less than a year after the Druid. Forbidden was still a new company at the time, not as established. Druid V2 was released in May. I would assume that an updated Dreadnought COULD be out before the end of the year. Use this post as a vote, thumbs up if you agree, thumbs down if you think it'll be 2024.

Interesting, feel like asking them when/if a new Shockwiz is being released or are they just gonna let it die?

What would you like to see from a new one that isn't covered by the current one?

@Whattheheel so the red caliper with paint splatter version? Up to this point those used the current Code lever with the standard (DOT5) bleeding port... The DB8/Maven bleed port is quite different... How does that work considering you say it's mineral oil?

It looked like it used standard bleed kit fittings and Defo said Code on it.  All blacked out so I guess production is close.

Code Silver Stealth

Did it look like this? Then it's just the new Code Stealth brakes released back in March. The calipers are still the same, and they are DOT fluid.

Sounds like buddy maybe just rode a properly bled and bedded in pair of codes for the first time (with the stealth levers). Amazing how proper brake maintenance and well setup rotors/pads with straight alignment can make a world of difference.

So the new ibis hd6 is mullet only. I swear there were some spy shots of one of their racers here on a full 29er. Perhaps another new but related model on the way?

Edit: but maybe I'm misremembering?

Looks very good btw. Straight tt is such an improvement.

THIS
It's amazing how many people I hear complaining about lack of power in their Codes. Then I get on their bike and their brakes feel like shit because of poor bleeds/setup and sticky pistons (major SRAM issue IMHO).
Also, the RSCs with the swing link are more powerful than the standard Code R and RS. Which I think is a mistake as it makes people thing that all Codes are weak.
