Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Also, during final practice on Saturday morning, Fabien Barel and Thibaut Ruffin were discussing, I did not catch many things but it sounded like at some time in the conversation it was about "investing" in someone and the fact that a third party was making a bigger offer to attract this person (my understanding is that they were discussing about a rider)
Where's Pierron's contract at? He's top of the game right now for sure, pretty much favored to win any race, not just specific ones. I looked it up and he signed with Commencal/Muc-off when they were still Commencal/Valnord in 2018 as a relativity unknown frenchy who crushed a few podiums in 2017 after some top 40 results leading up to and a few Jr top 10's. Reading that release, they signed Myriam and Remi for 3 years at the time, but would they have giving Pierron a two year just in case he was a flash in the pan and then a 3 year in 2020 as a reup? I figure he's either up for a contract this year or next depending on how long that first one was.
One thing that has always perplexed me about Pro MTB is the secrecy behind contracts and earnings. Any other sport, be it baseball, Basketball, Rugby league here in Aus etc, it's open knowledge how long the contract is and usually the financials are open knowledge too. MTB seems very hush about this stuff and I understand it is written into the contracts themselves about non disclosure. I mean we ain't talking megabucks here compared to other sports. But perhaps the cloak of secrecy short changes these athletes in their ability to make maximum returns on what is a short career usually.
Even in the corporate world now, it 'aint as rude to ask what someone is earning now it seems.
The one I wonder the most on is Wyn. In my eyes he can't possibly be earning enough for what he does for the sport. even mid results aside, he's next to Rob Warner in spirit and the only thing keeping pre and post race vibes alive even if he has middling race results, which he also is just fantastic to watch even if he's not a top rider and always has been in the best way. Imo, he's one of the most important people in the MTB world on DH and Enduro keeping the vibe alive and helping privateer racers keep going. Basically the most import person in gravity MTB media.

At the same time Myriam, Amaury and Thibaut signed contracts running through till the end of 2024, so those riders are sorted. Unless there is a release of their contracts at any point. Can't see that happening myself unless there were sponsorship issues or a huge offer from another team with mutual termination agreement.
'It is with great pleasure that we announce that Myriam Nicole, Amaury Pierron, and Thibaut Dapréla have all signed contracts with the team until the end of 2024'
Press release is in the 2022 team rumours thread and on Riding Addictions social media.
Not sure on Benoit or the others
Cathro is sorted, Brian Park confirmed PBR will continue next year.
"since last year, a lot of teams have come to see (me), but for now, the objective is to stay in the team. I find that I am in the middle of a growth period so it would be silly to take the risk of breaking this, when everything is going well for the moment."

Who would cough up the coin for PFP if she's on the move - Specialized? Canyon? A different Canyon team? Trek's roster seems full... Or help launch a carbon Commencial.
Luke Meyer-Smith to Giant.
Anyone think Trek's DH roster will change?
Giant DH/enduro team is expanding
Camille Balanche has had probably the fastest progression in Downhill MTB since Palmer. I hope she gets the best possible contract out there.
