Would be cool if Archer is working on a system that could be used for a Derailleur and cable actuated dropper. Could even stash it in the swat box of some bikes probably, I see most people run the system on the chain stay so it really is only making unsprung weight worse. Why not just run a little more cable and put it closer to the BB?

Was meant to be launched 2 months ago and is maybe a few weeks away now. Good news is they have moved away from the stupid high leverage, low progression and will be running a 230 x 65 shock to get the 170mm travel

Effigear has been using a SRAM 9 speed shifter on one end and a "spring in a tube" on the other. I'd say a similar approach could work for Pinions.

I asked when I saw the newer designs if they fixed that issue, but they said no. I might be wrong and they did make some changes, but both details came directly from effigear, the first one years ago, when I was asking them if it's possible to use a standard hub, a chain tensioner and a non-concentric suspension layout (a horst link....) and got the backpedal reply, the other detail came from the instagram post with them showing the new design, where the output shaft is concentric to the pedal shaft.
If anyone has different experiences with an effigear gearbox than what I was told by the company itself, please correct me.

I haven't heard anything 100 percent confirmed except for a May release date. With Santa Cruz's recent history of being somewhat predictable, I would expect it to be a dead on copy of the newest generation Nomad, but sitting on 29" wheels with maybe a few tiny differences, like using the flip chip for leverage ratio rather than geometry adjust. I unfortunately do not think it will hold a candle to the Spire, on paper, but boy howdy if it does I'll be on one right quick.

No inside info, but I'd be surprised if they don't make the new Megatower available as either 29 or MX (but not convertible back and forth), like the V10 and Heckler. There's a lot of racers who prefer MX, even riding size L or XL, and this is their enduro race bike.

Primoz & Slimshady, I currently have the Archer shifting system for my hardtail Nukeproof, but I am ordering the Starling Spur steel frame with Effigearbox soon and I could totally use the Archer system on it, and it would be great to be able to use that as an electronic shifter for the 9speed gearbox. Slim, I see that the Starling does have the spring tube you are talking about also. Let me know of any other info you have concerning this, and I will plan on adding this to the bike build when I get the frame. That would be great!!
I've been checking the system every day (literally) at work for new SC PO's to see when the new Megatower is ordered and set to arrive because I've been anxiously awaiting it. I'm hoping it pedals just as good or better as the V1 does, but also a wee bit more plush, even if that requires the climb switch. Love my V1, but I'm curious and will probably blindly buy the V2.

Slim, I will. I will be ordering the bike in the next week or so and I will discuss with Joe(owner) via email if this is a possible workable option also. Even if he says it isnt going to work, I'm still going to try it when I get the frame. The only thing I imagine is that the spring would need to possibly be a different rate if it doesnt work. The unit has all kinds of adjustability including pull rates if memory serves(I set it up and has worked flawlessly since, so set up is a distant memory, lol)

Unless the shifting is REALLY stiff, I don't think you should have any problems with the Archer setup. As far as I've seen, you can determine chain pull for every gear separately if required. But of course, do share your experiences once you get the bike.
Focus on Effigear performance as well plus if you have the option of running a standard rear hub and a locked freewheel (to compare how it shifts, aiming at my comments of being required to backpedal and all...), that would be awesome.

Where will this tyre fit in the line up? Looks similar to a DHR2, but the Big Betty already covers that? Perhaps a replacement for the Magic Mary? As I know Amaury was running front eddy currents on his bike at some point, probably as the knobs are less likely to roll or squirm under very aggressive riding
