Sram frame fit specifications document has the new rotors listed, HS2 is the name, they are thicker now, 2mm to start.

Already thought of that, none of the pics of the bike the GT riders are racing on have had a trunnion. Also looked to see the clearance in the rocker link to see if a trunnion would fit but the rocker has a 50mm clear width and trunnions are 54mm wide. Could be a custom link or maybe they’re just rocking it as a 160 like the bike check said.

Uhm, you guys are forgeting about the non-metric 230x70 size… There’s a guy in the EMTB forums that put such a size on his 2020 Kenevo and made it a 200mm-travel emtb-beast. So things are possible! Wink

I was reading the (quite good) article on the yeti 6-bar patent over on wheelbased, and this was posted in the comments. Considering the patent diagrams and bike look pretty similar to me I figured I'd pass it along, not sure how many people read wheelbased.

Uhm, you guys are forgeting about the non-metric 230x70 size… There’s a guy in the EMTB forums that put such a size on his 2020 Kenevo and made it a 200mm-travel emtb-beast. So things are possible! Wink
Do you have a link to that? I don't believe that is physically possible with any of the shocks I have seen on the market. Also if it was done I would be pretty concerned about the bushing overlap (or lack thereof), especially considering that it is on a yoke link specialized that that will side load the F out of shocks.

You remember the good old 222x70mm shocks that worked absolutely fine, right? Now, how and why adding 8mm to E2E would make it works less fine? Yes, I don´t see the reason either.

Well that was the most obvious option to go form a 222x70 shock to a 230 mm ETE shock. That or a custom eyelet part, moving the hole by 8 mm.

I checked the DHX2 and Float X2 and none are available in a similar ETE size with maybe more stroke, that you could then short-stroke (as you do metric shocks). Super Deluxes obviously won't be, as they are metric and thus much less custom than old imperial shocks were.

Am I missing something?

is there anything out there about why reece wilson had his top tube covered in what looked like black tape? only saw it on race run...front half of top tube.

@sspomer paint protection? I've seen bikes being rubbed there from the knee pads, seeing it's a special paint scheme, might be a bit of protection goping on.

Did he have a crash in practice at some point? Maybe it got a bit of a crack and they've done a sneaky repair with some carbon tape.

It's aluminium, so it would be a dent, not a crack.

I guess, 230x70 was unusual imperial size, you can still buy some shocks in that size so I don't think it would be too much of a problem for fox to make custom dhx2 in that size.and that brake rotor is prototype galfer rotor, you can see close up pic on galfer insta but it's quite a long way down.

Might be something to take the glare off his eyes, that frame sure is shiny and he did say he was struggling with the light in certain parts of the track. don’t know for sure, it’s just a thought.

Yeah the black tape is probably to avoid sun glare, there's the same on some aircrafts and dozers or other heavy machinery.

That's some Balfa level home depot hardware on that link 😂. One step above carriage bolts.

But really, absolutely love to see this bike evolve over the years in such a non year by year way. Commmencal just do it when it's an advantage to racing and not because "it's time for the new one". The current surpreme and this proto both mixing it up at the top proves how much effort they put into their teams and bikes. Also always awesome to see Max waiting at the bottom for his riders to come down at almost every race.

I've heard murmurs of a high pivot Meta AM proto kicking around as well.
