Ah yes, saw it in the vanzacs video and just thought it would be a dreadnaught with a dc but then noticed that blenki must be a rider in the video...

What do we think, 140/160? 64 head angle etc.

Unlikely... the Madonna is about 64,5° And 170mm upfront so this being 140mm is not gonna have a slacker head tube angle than their enduro bike. If I had to guess I’d say it should be about 65,5° on the hta and around 150mm of fork travel

I agree with what you are saying. I don’t think they would be losing anything giving it as slack a head angle though. But yeah travel could be in the 130/150 range.

Well, Canyon's Strive has a steeper headtube angle and a shorter wheelbase than the Spectral Smile

Because that bike was outdated the day it was released. Have you seen the seat angle on that? It’s ridiculous

I know, but it still gave me the option of making a point :D

Remember that the seat angle is steapened with the shapeshifter by 1.5°.

Unfortunately for those hoping for a new mtb, it is. I'm curious as to why the Fazua system isn't spec'ed on lightweight eMTBs, but maybe its a packaging issue or its not up to some standard of toughness.
The mix-match seatpost is also cool- having the option for a standard 27.2 post with flex or a 30.9 dropper post is cool, though I feel like most people wouldn't want to take advantage of that unless they had a Reverb AXS.

I thought I wouldn't tell you guys but there is a press release that was a little bit early (German):

To make it short:
- Frame is as heavy as the madonna
- Chainstay 440-450 mm (same as madonna)
- Reach 1cm shorter than madonna
- headtube angle 65.5°
- 135/150(160) mm Travel
- 29" only Sad
- Bike can also be ordered with a Formula rear shock
- Complete Bikes only in Europe

So basically any current Madonna owner can get their bike to ride like this one by running extra air pressure and a shorter stem

Well... The Bottembracket would be a little bit higher than but you could. I hoped that it had a way shorter chainstay and would accept MX Wheels. Something from the geo like the speci status. That would have made way more sense especially when you call the bike "jibb"

Run a shorter fork, will lower the bb and steepen the HTA.

This bike and the privateer 140mm bike are completely pointless.

That is a massive disappointment really. Could have been a super modern short travel aggressive trail bike. 65.5 head angle?!?

Don’t get the hate. Seems like a sweet bike. Not everything needs a 63 degree hta. Not everyone needs 160 mm of travel. It’s an all mountain bike as opposed to an enduro race bike. Should be a sweet option for a lot of people.

For sure, I see it both ways. Some folks will shralp the 140 as hard as the 160 and need the frame to be able to withstand the same amount of abuse. These people are probably stoked on same weight/mostly same geo (minus HTA).

I bought one of the new Banshee Rune V3 frames in the spring and chatted with the folks there about the different frame constructions. Banshee uses different tubesets on the Rune and Spitfire, for example, in both the rear and front triangles to balance weight/strength. Geos differ more and they also have the different dropouts you can use.

Not trying to sell anyone on a Banshee (though I've been over the moon with mine), but companies go about things different ways w/different philosophies and I'm not surprised a younger company like RAAW has less differentiation among frame sets than a much older company like Banshee, just from an experience standpoint. Luckily there are a zillion options these days.

I get what you’re saying but without anything besides the travel legitimately setting the bikes apart I don’t quite get the point. It would’ve been cool to see the jibb as a mulletable bike with shorter chain stays at the least. What Raaw really should have done is just made a rocker link that combined with a shorter stroke converts the Madonna into the jibb and vice versa.

yea, if you live somewhere without a lot of elevation or steep descents like we, it isn't always beneficial.

Bird was very open about a year ago about the fact that all their 27 and 29" full suspension bikes in all sizes used the same tubeset. Just cut to different lengths and welded differently. That covered 3 bikes at the time, maybe even the Aether too.

EDIT: looking at he Aether 9, it sure as damn looks like it's made from the same tubes (more or less, there have been some changes in since 2019) as my AM9.

On Beige bike the other day I read a long awaited full review on the Specialized status and now I'm realizing it's either gone and was likely posted too early by accident or I was dreaming and made up a very detailed review for a 999usd frame only mullet shredder. Interesting.

I saw that too, got all excited to watch the video after I saw it on a zoom call... as soon as I was out of the call the review was gone. Weird but might mean specialized is going to finally officially launch it on their site?

yeah I noticed that the bike they reviewed matched the colors on the Status.bike website, Fanatik has Status up on their site priced at $1,300 not $999 like PB stated.

new intense DH-bike for AG incomin, Todd Schumlick (team manager & trainer @ the Intense team) said on a podcast last week that AG will be on a new bike and Neko Mullaly & Seth Sherlock got their M279 (the alu proto).
Maybe a production ready carbon of the M279?

Intense is slowly becoming similar to Hyper. Producing unobtainable prototypes for high level team riders while only selling antiquated models that nobody wants.

I’d happily own a sniper. A buddy has one and it kicks ass. There is no doubt that m279 is going to be production at some point and probably soon. Pretty cool steber is building these guys exactly what they want (and I assume Aaron’s will be the basis for production rig)

keep in mind they lost chad Peterson in a bike accident who was their coo. Could be a factor along with COVID the trail bikes are on a pretty long product cycle.
