I noticed with my Kryptotal front and rear set in the downhill casing supersoft front and rear that I needed 4-5psi more than I would use for Maxxis dhf/dhr2 dh maxxgrip, all ran tubeless without inserts on 30mm internal rims. At bike park speeds it was scary to run my Maxxis pressures as I was certain I was going to kill a rim if I went at my normal pace. Seems like a little less grip for the Conti tires too, especially in colder temps below 40F, and the same undercutting of the side knob’s as Maxxis, but it did...

10/16/2024 6:47pm When I had my Zeb done by Craig at Avalanche I asked him about re-sizing the bushings. He pretty much laughed and said that’s not really a thing for the most part but that he does check every fork that comes to him for a damper install just in case. My fork was fine.

One off parts would be cost prohibitive to most people. CNCs are very efficient once they are set set up and running, but there's a lot of work to get there with a part that you've never ran before. It depends on the complexity of the part you come up with of course. It could easily run you over $1000 though. Keep in mind for things that aren't nice and rectangular you usually have to make more parts just to hold on to what you're making while you machine it.

The launch video basically breaks every rule of modern advertising and I love it. "Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle." "Don't talk about the product." "Customers don't care about specs, they care about experiences." Oneup lost me when I saw they use a cassette locking as a bearing retainer - "Getting the lockring to catch the threads can be a bit finicky. Spinning the lockring backwards until it catches and drops into the start of the threads in the hub shell will help align it." Queue the home mechanics stripping those threads and writing off the hub. Otherwise it does look good. It's quite cool what they've done with the ratchet allowing the spring to recess into it. I wonder if they'll offer other engagement options down the line.
