hurricanejoel Liked a product review BIKE TEST: 180mm-travel Pole Stamina

Earlier this year, we spent a few months aboard the Pole Machine. We were impressed at just how formidable the bike was as an all-around trail bike, not just on descents. In addition to having built a great bike, the Machine was also Pole’s first in-house CNC machined frame, which had performance advantages and allowed the Finnish brand to refine and design seamlessly from one bike to the next. Well, that “next bike” for Pole is the Stamina. Two travel configurations are available, with 180mm or 140mm setups featuring similar ride feel and geometry, but each slightly tweaked for intended...

yzedf Added a comment about feature Op-Ed - DON’T SPOIL THE RESULTS IN THE TITLE
9/19/2019 9:42am I'm a busy guy with two young kids, a great wife and a needy dog. I routinely look at the results first to see if it's something worth watching. This goes for Formula 1 (sorry Hamilton I just don't care when you win another flag to flag snoozefest) as well as downhill (not an issue this season for the pro men).

Yay!!! Finally someone openly talking about the 29 versus 27.5 wheel feel. And it being The Freeracer makes it feel far more genuine than anyone else. He didn't try to sell me anything. Completely new level of respect for him. Great insights on his passion to just ride all the time, the inability to say NO, his constant & firm affirmation that he's a racer first! Learning about his ACL injury finally, which by the way is the worst injury to come back from. Destroys the cushion inside. He said what I've said to everyone I know...you feel like you...

yzedf Added a reply to Discussion: Fork Damping vs Spring Rate
7/23/2019 6:57pm It should be more balanced, but I can't afford the fancy damper I'd like (Avalanche) so I'm stuck messing around on the spring side.

7/11/2019 8:43pm Shapeshifter adds weight and complexity for what seems like minimal benefit. Nobody who cares about uphill efficiency is buying a 31 pound bike in the first place. The lower spec models are probably going to be pushing 35 pounds with pedals. No bike in this weight class is ever going to be a quiver killer, so why pretend?

Blowing it? If the sales volume doesn't make sense, they won't produce it. At 6'3.5" tall I very rarely see anyone at a bike park as tall as me. Most DH bikes still run 45-50mm stems, not the 35mm of trail bikes. Ends up usually around 10mm difference of reach and stem combined between DH and trail bikes. Not a big deal at all. Not to mention Specialized is almost always on the agility side of the spectrum when it comes to mountain bike fit.

Riding a 2017 Kona Operator (first year of 27.5) and I can relate to the sore feet at (my) pace in the chop. It's too bad they went with 29er and 148 hub, I've got a decent fork and wheelset I couldn't use anything from if I wanted to build up from a frame.
