Interesting feedback! Cool to hear that you had the opposite problem with spring rate calculations. I think optimal spring rate is pretty subjective overall, and while there are many wrong answers, there isn't one correct answer for any and all riders of a certain weight, height, riding style, etc. For a long time I've thought it was pretty bold of any company to try to guess spring rate over the internet (whether that company is Vorsprung, Push, EXT, etc), but this was my first time trying out a company's best guess. I was actually surprised how close they got, only...

my favorite brands are: 1 Ancillotti; 2 Evil; 3 Santa Cruz For Ancillotti i just love Tomaso’s bikes. Evil I like their bikes too. Santa fascinate me for the polish but aggressive product design. Out of big brands I never used Giant, so I cannot speak, and I like Specialized for their product effectiveness and simplicity, Cube for their prices.

I think this depends a lot on your specific region and the market you plan to cater to, for a few reasons: 1. Who are you competing against? What do they offer? What can you do better or differently? What will make a customer choose your shop over the other options? 2. Are you trying to cover all the bases, from kids’ bikes to adults’, road, gravel, and mountain, entry-level to high-end? If so, it makes sense to get at least one brand that covers most of these, such as Giant, Trek, Specialized, Norco, etc. If you’re able to focus...

Red Bull spends roughly 3 billion a year on marketing. There’s no pressure for them to help, it won’t change their bottom line.

Challenging times — being a bike shop in 2025 isn’t easy. My dream shop would be right next to a trailhead, where I could actually demo bikes — not just look at them. Ideally, there’d be a mix of boutique and practical options: something exotic like a gearbox bike, Frameworks, Esker or whatever’s trending, along with solid value brands like Transition, and a good range of sizes and models. Maybe some kind of cheaper n+1 bike from Surly, Salsa, Pk ripper.. It should feel like a destination — a place where you can hang out, check out cool gear, and...

My experience with linkage forks is feeling the wheel sweep left to right or right to left if the wheel is turned. If the travel sweeps through an arc with changing offset through the stroke, then as soon as the wheel is turned the axle is no longer moving parallel to the centre-plane of the bike. It can be really noticeable in tight tech. This would give tunable anti-dive without the fuckery of a linkage-driven axle path, and I like that. But I might be an outlier because I really love tight, steep, slow tech that's always threatening to put...

So it looks like I blew my Telum in Whistler over closing weekend. Didn't leak oil or anything, and there was still a difference between climb and descend positions, but was super clunky and noisy at the top end. Still rode it through the weekend, but now it's in the shop getting serviced. I'll give an update when they can tell me what went sideways. I'm going to (kind of) blame myself for this one though as I had a big summer on the bike (Kamloops trip to start the season, Legacy bike park x2, France for two weeks of...

Quoting my own post to showcase that Frameworks is getting outside industry exposure with a custom bike as part of Toyota’s display at SEMA. That’s got to be worth something, and shows that the partnerships they are making beyond traditional cycling brands are worthwhile. Hopefully it adds to their bottom line and allows them to either bring on established talent or provide more for developing juniors. https://www.instagram.com/p/DQJ8JpMEZCz/?igsh=MTRiMzUyYzZ0bnh2eA==

Facts from the Rumor forum: Nukeproof wants to stay true to its UK roots. Doesn't want to spend the money on a big team with flashy truck. New rider has luscious locks. There are two small (no truck or blue US school bus) UK based teams with Rider/Owners, but only one has long hair. Could we see a Nukeproof camper van pit set up?

V+R Racing is just two mere peasants (well, a nurse and a medical device engineer). When we started out in 2019 the two of us were just buying DH bikes for junior riders who needed them. Many seasons and many riders later, we had two world cup DH juniors in '25 with one finishing second overall and the other finishing 10th overall. We obviously can't afford our own team, but we can still be a hat/helmet sponsor. I'm still driving my 16 year old car - it just comes down to priorities for us. And we're proof it doesn't have...

Yes, I'm a full time Noken guy at this point (or the Ratio Flux Cap, which I also loved). I run my Zeb at 180mm, and it's ultra super progressive at this longer travel setting, so I love the Noken to help mellow out the progression punch at the end. Even more, I love it because it allows me to run the fork with more air pressure for more support off the top.
