Is there a difference between the C3 and C3 Women’s aside from colour? Same thing for the Optic.

finally, someone had the courage to enlighten me on the cryptic "sandbagging" comments. 2nd place in the pro women's class is transgendered, so there is debate about the racing being fair. why that couldn't be mentioned here in the comments from the get-go is beyond me.

Dialed race track (check), stacked field (check), gnarly conditions (check), Top notch media coverage (check). What a way to start off the season at the Tennessee National! My suggestion to continue to up the game in race reporting is to include some more audio from the UCI Elite Women! It was great to hear from the top 6 or so men but we only get the Women's winner's audio (Congrats Rachel for a stellar performance!!!). Caroline and Frida are coming off great 2018's, what are they up to this year? Also, who are the ladies in 4th and 5th on...

Best (or worst) prediction for 2019: Athertons on Marin Xquare one clone with Trust the DH prototype fork, the ugliest bike the world has ever seen, Gee and Rach win all races by margins even Vali cant reach in junior women, the world burns.

My favorite XC racer, Jenny Rissveds, has an interesting post(s) from a couple of days ago: https://www.instagram.com/jennyrissveds/?hl=en I think one of the best untold recent sports stories is what happened to Rissveds following her stellar 2016 season. If she returns to international racing in 2019, then women's XC will be the most exciting cycling discipline to watch, hands down.

I definitely think you are missing a bike... But solid review nonetheless, really enjoyed that! Although I think you went halfway on this. You wanted to do a back-to-back, strict comparison of the bikes. Well bike makers don't make the parts, so why would you have different parts on each bike? If you wanted to do a 'different' review and properly review each bike back-to-back I personally think you should have had the same part spec(mainly wheels/tires, brakes, suspension, cockpit.) Then you really find out which 'bike' is the best, as in rear suspension feel/geo. And then you can add...

Jesse, ya pinner! It's really awesome to see you chiming in and I appreciate your thoughts. We would LOVE to do a test in the manner you've proposed for the reasons you stated. It would be the gold standard for a pure frame test, no doubt. There are some big hurdles we'd have to overcome to pull it off, but it's possible in the future. Keep in mind that shocks are tuned specific to each frame, so those would need to remain. That said, bike manufacturers make bikes. Bikes come with parts. Those parts were carefully chosen (and often tested)...

Bturman, what are your overall thoughts on 29er fork offset? Was the 44 vs 51 noticeable when switching between bikes?

Awesome job Vital. Pretty quickly, you begin to realize how hard a test like this is to do. I think you did a great job. As others have suggested, each reviewer using the same wheels/tires could be a good equalizer.

I find tires can make such a big difference in ride quality, feel, and confidence in my descents. Of course this translates to a much faster time. It's unfortunate you couldn't take that huge variable out of the equation but this is the way the manufacturer has specced the bike. The bikes with DH Threads like the Maxxis 2.5 3C DHF front tires probably did better than bikes specced Trail tires.
