Ganderson Added a comment about product review Stumpjumper EVO

Superb Review.. definitely influenced my decision to pick one up last week! 115psi on the fork though for a 215lb rider.. damn. I don't see how anyone rides these 36's at or especially OVER the recommended settings. I'm around the same weight and ended up 15-20psi below foxes recommendation on my Ibis HD5 36 and this one is shaping up the same way after 3 rides. I guess I don't ride hard enough.. haha. I am REALLY digging this bike so far though. At 5'7" I haven't had much luck with 29ers and bought this one with the full intention...

I've been experimenting with the Megneg on my Bronson V3 for a couple weeks with improved results, so I'd say this frame is a good candidate.

Good review but zero comparisons to the other bikes in this segment.. Seems like a good all rounder but how does it stack up to HD4, Bronson, Patrol, etc?

Ah.. gotcha. In the pics it looks like it was installed with the set-screw method so I thought you were referring to that. You are correct that the post doesn't like any tension on the cable when locked.. just a hair of play in the lever does the trick.

RE: 9point8 Fall Line You used the Digit remote and claim that it is more involved and requires precision to install? Nope.. you did it wrong. The shift cable simply drops in from the post-side of the connectors and the anchor bottoms out.. the bare wire end clamps at the remote. No set-screws or trimming required at the post end when using the digit. Extremely easy to install and remove. Read the directions: https://www.9point8.ca/support/9point8%20Digit%20Remote%20Manual%200000…

Agreed that they look more dark-grey, black in the pics. In real life they are very much dark navy blue.

I've been using a pair of the dark navy color (they aren't black) for 3 months, and yeah, they are pretty damn good. Not quite the slipper-like comfort of the regular freerider, but a near perfect balance of comfort, protection, durability (so far), and straight up performance. Have yet to see anyone else wearing them.

I remember purchasing an Uprising (partially) because of one of his edits... I think it was broken because it didn't work the same under me.

This is a good article and a good representation of the value of the Bottomless feature. This should enlighten a lot of folks who feel they can get more from their suspension. I want to add a pro tip: in slide #17 where the rider is using a socket to remove the top cap, that socket has had the chamfer on the inside edge of the socket lip machined off. If you use an off the shelf socket, the chamfer will prevent the top cap's hex from seating deep enough in the socket and top cap will be damage/stripped when...

Ganderson Added a comment about bike check Vital MTB's Transition Smuggler Test Bike

Ok, cool. I'm running a bit higher pressure than you (185psi) and 2 clicks out from full slow. Never run a Monarch before so I was a little surprised how much rebound I ended up with during the first couple shakedown rides. Good to know I'm not crazy.

A couple rides in I'm loving my Smuggler as well. Looking at your excellent article on tuning the monarch for the Smug... am I reading your log-book right that you settled on zero clicks of rebound (full fast) as optimum? Or is that fully closed (slow)?
