Well said Ed - gone are the days of prviateer racers driving out to europe for a month to race world cups out the back of a shitty old transit van. 226 racers entered the Val di sole world cup in 2012 compared with 139 in 2019. And all those privateers who saved all their money to fly out to the North America world cups. 34 British riders raced the Windham WC in 2012, only 19 raced the US WC last year. Riders outside the Top 10 are on a lot less, because their value as an asset to a company is worth a lot less. Look at Matt Walker for example - riding for Madison Saracen, he's probably paid around $40k a year. By the time you add up travel expenses, parts, mechanic etc he is probably costing that team over $100k a year to have as a rider. Now are there enough people out there going out and buying a Saracen because Matt Walker is riding one? Nothing against him as a rider, he's just the example. Same could be...

Thought it was interesting he came down to "internet peasant land" (that's what I call it) to defend the product and ask Vital to pull the post. Part of me understands this. Part of me goes "cmon dude, that is overstepping a line you don't have control over". I understand he wants to be a good business partner for his sponsors. Im sure this wont be an overly liked comment but... Am I the only one who thinks the possibility of the Athertons racing Atherton branded bikes is just super F'ing lame? In no way am I pumped that this rumour is a possibility.
