There is outside money... in Europe... and in XC. Notice how many top XC, mostly Euro, riders have sponsor logos that North American's have never heard of? Obviously, Nino is a bit of an exception, but he has "Corner Card" at the front of his helmet along with numerous others. I've heard he even has a chocolate sponsor. The man was/is deep into the 7 figure mark. Kate Courtney's Redbull helmet is worth substantially more than the average DH rider annually. How many DH/Enduro riders do you see being sponsored by car dealerships? It pales in comparison to the XC...

And TV coverage back then was mainly on cable and there wasn't a single point of contact. As much as the hardcore fans hate the change from RBtv. It's what the sport needs if it has any hope of a regular income stream from external sponsors. Nove Mesto xc had nearly nine million viewers this year. That's the kind of numbers that gets you noticed by whatever marketing or pr people that hold the purse strings in large companies. Power tools, insurance, beauty products.. that's what the elite level of MTB needs.

Yea, I think the likelihood Gwin is on Yeti (frames, but his own program) is higher than him being on Frameworks frames. ... Wow, $4,000 for Frameworks DH frame w/out a shock. Ouch. But I suppose there are 100 people who have that kind of cash and want a (standard FSR deign) DH frame for the boutique-ness of it.

I think this theory makes sense if: -Gwin is injecting cash into Frameworks by buying 49% stake in it right now (probably for pennies). -The extra cash allows Frameworks to get bikes (trail & enduro bikes most importantly) into production within a year. -Gwin, as 49%, owner gets his portion of profits from the business until he sells his shares or is bought out. If Frameworks ends up being successful on the saturated market (questionable), Gwin would be setup for long term profits. Gwin is in the final portion of his career, but even in this market, he could still...

Now this is the type of content we want to see, real people, who actually ride their stuff, giving real opinions. I would love to see how top pics from you guys (regardless of year) stack up agains the "modern industry standards". Clearly that enduro can still hang with the new tech, makes you wonder if new bikes are really improving as much as they claim...
