I've been lucky to ride most of the places mentioned in North America this thread and, in my experience, the most important ingredient for a happy mountain bike trip is local knowledge. Riding around staring at your phone or a map is a great way to ride lots of meh trails, but connecting with someone (anyone) who knows the area is a surefire way to ride the good stuff. 4/20/2023 6:36am For the euros around here, a road trip from Northern Italy through Austria is an insane week/two trip. It's a great mix between some of the sickest dh riding in the world (Val di Sole, Schladming, Leogang) and mellow-er adventure oriented destinations (Canazei, Saalbach come to mind).

Get the RPC! I had the first gen liquid inside one and crashed super hard enough to put some hairline cracks in the helmet and I was a little shaken up but no concussion. Bought the new MIPS version to replace it, I tried on the D4 and 100% aircraft2 and they don't even feel remotely as sturdy and safe. If you put your hands on both ends of the RPC and squeeze the shell doesn't flex one bit.

Was Finn in this new one or the old model for his season-compromising concussion last year? I'm in the market for the safest high-end DH helmet and it's tricky to tell if there are any significant safety improvements between the top-end DH offerings- Full 10, RPC, D4, this new one, and the 100% aircraft2... anyone out there measuring this stuff (Virginia Tech is not)?

4/13/2023 12:30am From experience, it's possible to break nearly anything given a hard crash or brutal case, and weird stuff happens (ex. rock strikes to downtubes or derailleurs on the roads between trails in whistler)... so sometimes reliability is secondary to availability of parts or replacements in local shops especially if you travel for riding or racing. Spotted on the other site and Instagram that the Trek Factory Racing riders at the EDR are not running sponsor correct tyres, look to be on the Sharpie/Maxxis program. XC team seem to be running Pirelli, be interesting to see what the DH team are running come the first world cup.

Not sure about your reliability comment.. I've never had a problem in 10+ years using them. What would be nice is some innovation, think they got too comfortable. My next tyres will be conti as I'm well and truly sucked in by the marketing & reviews!
