FWIW, bleeding Codes by applying vacuum on both sides cyclically is a long and tedious process, but results in a very good bleed that is good for years of riding. Factory bleeds have, in my experience, always been lacking and resulted in a wandering bite point (long lever throw on first application and then it became firm once the system was preloaded). As long as the system is reliable, a tedious (but reliable) process is not an issue as you will only rarely have to perform it. And as long as you are reasonably competent and do it at home...

Do the bleed from the caliper to the lever, with all the path from the bottom up being as vertical as possible. This is to ensure there is no bubble. The variable bite point might have to do with bent rotor. If the rotor is flexible, it could shake the pads apart and now you have a longer free stroke. That's where thicker rotors are best.

Unless you look like this, and use common sense /torque, stripping of threads are not a problem

I'm all good with brakes (have RSCs on both bikes), but if I had a lesser set on any of my bikes (particularly GFs), I'd be scooping these up immediately. At this point I'd be more interested to try something stronger if I felt spendy.

As a somewhat budget minded racer, electric loses me when I think how many spare mechanical mechs can I afford to stock my toolbox for the price of ONE electric derailleur. Same with wheels, rims, tires, chains, chain guide, on and on. For racing it's about having spares in the toolbox and not having a fancy spare part could end your weekend before you even get in the gate.

Correct they are thermosets, most are very, very stiff in compressive loading situations, >30ksi. Just as stiff as the aluminum caliper under similar compressive loadings. The only reason there would be impressions and deformations in the phenolic piston blocks is due to poor design leading to stress raisers that allow for point loading putting the material into a plastic deformation condition above typical elastic conditions. I personally have never seen such issues with the phenolic inserts in my Hopes, and I have yet to ever hear of anyone mention it before. I don't have a stress-strain curve for Bakelite or...

Why haven't we seen more aero in DH? 0. No one wants to be the first to be running fairings on their bike, their saddle, etc. And then not win. Embarrassing, etc. 1. Until fairly recently, times were not close enough to really justify the cost/added complexity. That's changed. 2. Tracks are getting faster for TV 3. Bikes are all so damn good now that everyone is looking for advantages beyond suspension, brakes, etc. 4. Wind tunnel time is very costly (for accurate testing) 5. Fairings and gear are expensive to do when done well (won't fall off, actually work)...

Here is the important thing to keep in mind, if everyone is in a skinsuit, the playing field is level again. There is limited advantage unless some go with aero solutions and others do not. If everyone is in a skin suit, then everyone is just that much faster. Yes rider size/weight will continue to have advantages/disadvantages, but those cannot be accounted for to ultimately make even. If DH goes to speedsuits, they need to do like FIS (skiing) and set specific regulations on what is allowed. FIS does not allow the rubber style suits used in top speed events...

Worth remembering tyre drag is noticeable, as is losses to smashing through rocks. A lot of the above numbers and deltas assume aero drag is the only drag force.
