iceman2058 Liked a product review YT IZZO vs. XC Race Bike | Long Term Review
7/9/2020 11:20am
When we swung our legs over the new YT IZZO for our First Ride feature a couple of months ago, we were blown away by how well the bike pedaled and carried speed over flat terrain. But what if our tired old legs were just playing a trick on us, so used to dragging our big enduro bikes up a hill that we had simply lost our reference points? To put our first impressions to the test, we called in some reinforcements to help us evaluate the IZZO against some seriously fast competition. Check out the video review below to...

Zeromatter Liked a reply to forum topic Experience on the new 2021 Fox forks?
7/8/2020 10:59am I have no experience on the new 2021 Fox forks but I'll admit they look pretty damn cool and I like some of the new features. Where I am, elevation is not a factor, temperatures are constant throughout the year. However if you ride in areas where temperatures and elevations change a lot, I really like the idea that Fox have included the lower leg purge valve (on the Factory models I believe) and no longer have to shove a zip tie down the fork seal anymore. The lower leg channels look interesting but I'm not convinced that it's necessary...

7/8/2020 10:58am I have a 2021 160mm Lyrik Ultimate RC2. This model has the new C1 Debonair spring. I used to have a 2018 B1 160mm Lyrik with the new C1 Debonair spring and Charger 2 RC2 damper. To start, I think it's important to understand how I explain things. I use a 1-6 rating to describe terrain. 1-2: very small, mild chatter (mostly involves the initial stroke zone) 3-4: bigger roots, rocks and moderate chunk, mild jumps and drops (mostly the mid stroke zone) 5-6: gnarly terrain, landing from big drops, nasty rock gardens, etc. (upper mid to end stroke zone)...

7/3/2020 6:46am Love this idea. Pretty sweet you can dial up a little heavier spring in the bike park or if you’re carrying a heavy pack that day - even easier than adding air PSI’s!

sspomer Liked a forum topic When was the last time you had to hack a mountain bike repair?

Are you still having to hack, tweak and improvise on your current bikes and setups. Are you having to make your own tools to work on your bikes? Or are those days long gone? Mountain bikes and their technology have come a long way in recent years. Tubeless tires are the norm on mid-to-upper level bikes, 1x drivetrains are refined, chains aren't derailing with just a sideways look and suspension, out of the box, is next level. While hanging out with Sean Griz McClendon the other day, he was building up a new DH bike and putting on tires...

6/22/2020 9:19pm One time I borrowed 8 rotor bolts off a wheelset and forgot to put them back on before a ride, leaving 2 rotor bolts per wheel. I rode for maybe 2 hours before my bike started to make a horrible knocking noise and pulsing when I braked. Turns out I'd ovalized the bolt holes for the 2 bolts that were left. The rotor mounts for those two holes were ruined, and because they were bent out of shape I couldn't put a rotor on the wheel. I got out my trusty dremel and cut the 2 mounts off each wheel...

6/3/2020 9:03pm I encourage everyone to watch Eliot Jackson's video below and think about the mtb commuity we are part of. View this post on Instagram Full vid. This is for the cycling community. I’m exhausted and there have been so many times over the last few days where I have been ashamed to be a part of this community. I’m exhausted by the fact that I have had to fight for things that should be common place. . I am exhausted by the fact that someone will watch this video and think that I don’t care about equality for ALL people...

5/14/2020 12:55pm I still have one of those FSR links! I found it in a box in the back with a million shock DU bushings and 6x25.4mm shock hardware. There are a lot of MRP / Mountainspeed, White Brothers, Total Air, and Power Grips relics from the golden years up in the rafters. Re: narrow/wide, I don't remember the timeline exactly, but you have to remember we were producing chainguides for SRAM/Truvativ at the time, so we were privy to some early info on X-Sync. I remember being shown some sample parts of the original XX1 group at Eurobike, well before that...

Idemoed a lot of bikes before throwing a leg over the Capra. What set the Capra apart for me was that I could setup the bike for good small bump response without blasting through the travel on bigger and faster hits. I later found out why; the Capra's rear suspension was designed to be progressive enough to be compatible with both air and coil shocks. I've heard from other riders (usually 50 pounds lighter than my 220 pounds) that they never used the last 1/3 of rear travel and felt that it was a bit of a waste, I...
