2/18/2014 1:54am haha, no one does that I agree. It was exaggeration meant to prove a point. With the closeness of the gears in the Pinion I can see changing 3-4 gears at a time to be fairly common. This is still a simple wrist movement with a gripshift instead of many clicks and cu-klunk-a-klunk of the gears finding their way to the right spot.

What if Pinion were to build a 10 or 12 speed box, with a similar range to this one? Would your opinion be the same?

2/18/2014 1:52am Who actually does that? Realistically, unless you like to pretend you have a throttle or something there are few scenarios where shifting more than 3 gears at a time is really necessary. Hats off to Zerode that bike looks fantastic!

2/18/2014 1:51am I've heard this before, and don't get me wrong: 1x10, 1x11 are a million times better than the gear systems of 5 years ago, but once you have used a gearbox system you will never, ever want to go back to a derailleur system. Trust me. It's so much more than not dropping chains. It's so much more than not snagging your drive chain on rocks. You can change gears without pedaling - which means at the last second just before a techy rock climb or mid bombing to prepare for the uphil you can already see coming but there...

2/18/2014 1:50am Bike is sic as more so in person, weight low down, sick linkage, still pretty heavy, pinion adds weight, no doubt rides light though, and I bet amazingly, Rob wouldn't let me rid it haha, still someone needs to back Rob his designs are truly amazing, it might be built in a garage, but like the Britton race road bike, its incredibly well made, beyond any std mass produced bike, this thing and his DH bikes would shake the mtb world if funded into production!

I saw that too. Good for them. I thought they were a little out-shined by their Specialized teammates last year. They are both talented enough to shine on their own and lead their own team, IMO. I hope they have a great year with their new team. I wonder what they'll be riding. Neither SRAM nor TLD make bike frames.

Lots of new addition, a couple shake ups, and a couple new groups. Orange back in the game with Dirt, loving the Pivot team, and interesting to see a couple people like the Shaw brothers starting their own squad. 2014 ought to be interesting.

Florian Pugin is missing from the Scott team. Seems she may be dong the privateer thing in 2014. More info here. Awesome to see Harry Heath pick up a proper ride with the Dirt/Orange team.

Having Gwin as a teammate would definitely be awesome. His perspective has personal coaching from Johnny T, Rockwell, and now EC. Given all of those influences, guy goes fast and probably has something good to say.
