I've ridden gripshifters and I find I frequently accidentally shift just from the way I grip. and I definitely don't need 18 gears, but they could probably drop some weight from it by dropping gears. I'd rather run an 11speed alfine, then it would be DI2 compatible as well.

Chainstays are a bit long, the bb height looks about right compared to the amount of travel and intent (not a DH bike) as it is about in line with the axles (also it appears to be in the high setting in the pictures)
