regarding the DSD runt, I have one sitting in my parts drawer for my 36 (will be installing it soon). functionally it operates in the same manner as the Manitou IRT in that it turns a single positive air spring into a dual positive air spring (dual rate spring). I've got the IRT in my Mattoc, and it was a notable improvement over the token system. It definitely took more time to get properly dialed in, but IMO the performance improvement is worth it. Based on the similarities of how they work I'd expect similar performance from the DSD.

Most inline shocks are monotubes- might be confusing the naming? For MTBs- they are cheap, durable and package super well with an airspring.

I’m a big fan of Shimano 12 speed and have used the XT Cassette/XTR Chain with AXS on my personal bike for the last two years now as I’ve had issue with the Shimano derailleurs clutches and cages. I would say Transmission is smoother overall and shifts slightly better under load which I didn’t think was possible but it’s definitely splitting hairs.

as stated, the controllers are backward compatible. old axs controller works with this kit and the new pods work with old axs. i'm really curious as to why they're saying it's not backward-compatible. we didn't mount an old chain on the bike, but in the studio (seen in video), the old x0 chain seems to wrap just fine on the cassette and chainring. have to assume it won't shift properly? also since the T type chain can be used w/ old eagle, so couldn't the new cassette and T type chain roll w/ the orig axs/eagle derailleur, cranks and shifter...

Curious if that is the Epic or a totally new model. Only reason I think it might be a completely new model is that I'm not sure if that new frame/suspension design would translate to the Epic Evo. I could see Spesh making this a strictly "XC race" frame and making the Epic/Epic Evo a dedicated "Downcountry" platform.

Not necessarily, commencal supreme v5 went from high pivot to "virtual" high pivot where two links still place the pivot high, but its position changes through travel. There might be more links under that cover and it might still feel similar to the old suspension, but still a bit different. Because companies rarely change their suspension layout completely, usually its the evolution of what's been going for them for years
